Kenta Hasegawa Moves On
The former S-Pulse manager pulled Gamba out of J2 in the 2013 season and then took them to the treble of J1 Championship, J.League Cup and Emperor's Cup in 2014! Hasegawa was also named Manager of the year for his achievements in 2014.
In 2015 the team took the Emperor's Cup again and came close in the Championship Play-Offs when Gamba were leading in the 1st leg of the J1 Championship Play-offs only to see Oh Jaesuk sent off in the final minutes after Kohei Shimizu made the most of a coming together to convince the referee a red card was justified. Two goals later and Gamba were down a goal for the away leg - too much to come back from.
Arguably just behind Akira Nishino (J1 Championship, J.League Cup, Emperor's Cup twice and the AFC Championship) in managerial success with the team, Hasegawa's reign must be seen as a success, but now it is time to move on. The club, and the fans, wish Mr. Hasegawa good fortune in his future endeavours.
