Moments after Ademilson's heroics Fujiharu took a one-two pass to bring the ball out of defence and, spotting the 'keeper well out of his goal, took the shot from the half way line, but his audacious attempt was off target. Then it was Ademilson's turn again, as he sped out of his own half and past two defenders before being hacked down by Jiro Kamata. In truth this was a disgraceful challenge that could easily have seen red. From the free kick - taken by Ryo Hatsuse - Nagasawa rose high but headed just wide.
It was the tricky Brazilian again, in the 42nd minute, showing a nice turn of speed that was sometimes lacking last season, who sped past a couple of defenders before finding space for a low shot that was saved at the 'keeper's right hand post.
The home team were lucky to be only one goal down at the break and they made the most of that by drawing level two minutes after the restart when Yusuke Kobayashi drilled a half-cleared corner home from 18 yards. Although it was obvious to this writer that Shinnosuke Nakatani was clearly in an offside position - blocking the view of Higashiguchi - it did not seem to be even considered by anyone on the field of play!
Gamba were back ahead on the hour mark as Nagasawa flicked home a low Hatsuse cross with aplomb and Ademilson extended the lead ten minutes later, converting a penalty kick that he himself had earned. There was no argument from the defence on the decision and the Gamba no.9 sent Kosuke Nakamura the wrong way to seal the points for his team.
