The scoring was opened in the 9th minute with an own goal, after Ademilson's strong run and low cross from the left. Shun Nagasawa was ready to pounce but the defender did the work for him!
Masaaki Higashiguchi then kept his team in the lead with a fine save from a 20-yard Hirotaka MIta shot, and it was still 1-0 at the break.
Fabio almost added to Gamba's lead in the 65th minute, volleying a Jungo Fujimoto free kick inches past the post, with the goalkeeper looking on helplessly.
The second goal finally came in the 70th minute with Fujimoto feeding Ademilson down the right wing. The Brazilian slipped the ball into the path of Yosuke Idehuchi who placed it perfectly, just inside the 'keeper's left hand post for the 2-0 lead.
The 76th minute saw Vegalta's fightback begin, a right wing cross going behind the players it was meant for, but, fortunately for the home team, Takumi Nishimura was running in behind the player and, while he didn't connect cleanly at all, managed to get the ball over the line. Three minutes later and the home team were level as a corner found its way through a forest of legs and Kazuki Oiwa got the final touch to send it in through the spread body of Higashiguchi, who was so close to the save. 2-2!
It was another inswinging Fujimoto free kick that gave Gamba the win in the 91st minute, with Fabio heading home between three defenders for the win, the three points, and the confidence-booster ahead of the visit of Kashima Antlers on Wednesday!
