Nagasawa opened the scoring from a right-sided inswinging Ryo Hatsuse corner but the away team were soon level on a 25-yard shot that Masaaki Higashiguchi in the Gamba goal got two hands to, and was probably disappointed to see it make it past him.
Shu Kurata almost gave Gamba the lead again on the half hour mark after a superb passing movement opened up space for him to blast against the post with the goalkeeper watching helplessly. Vegalta continued to trade punches, though and they hit the post moments later, also, before Kurata again had the 'keeper struggling to make a save low at his right post.
It was Nagasawa who really should have given Gamba all three points in the 62nd minute, though, as he half-volleyed a Hatsuse cross over the bar from six yards out with the goal gaping and open, while, in the 72nd minute Yosuke Ideguchi blasted a long range shot off the bar as the Vegalta goal continued to live a charmed life.
Substiute Hiroto Goya had the last word, after some sustained Gamba pressure, but the young Gamba forward hit the ball straight at the 'keeper with the last kick of the match and somehow Vegalta took home a point!
