Gamba Osaka 2-2 Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo - aggregate score.
Gamba were denied the chance of a League Cup final by the 87th minute away goal that saw the 1st Leg of this tie end in a 2-1 home win. When the away tie was lost 1-0, Gamba went out on the away goal, after a 2-2 aggregate draw.
1st leg - Gamba Osaka 2-1 Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo
The home leg of this semi-final saw the opening goal from Takashi Usami with just over a quarter of an hour to go and it looked as if Gamba were heading for the win and, more importantly, the clean sheet, when Kim Min-tae struck to give Consadole what promised to be a draw. But even then, the late drama was not over, and Shu Kurata stormed in to give the home team the 2-1 win with virtually the last touch of the game.

2nd leg - Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo 1-0 Gamba Osaka
Gamba began the 2nd leg of this tie unchanged and were soon racking up goal attempts, corners and that patented possession, of course. But the goal that would have sealed the tie did not come and it was a blow to the side when Usami was forced off injured just after the half-hour mark. Patric came on as a substitute for the second time in this semi-final, but was also unsuccessful in forcing a breakthrough up front and, eventually, the home team managed the goal that would send Gamba out of the Levain Cup on away goals. That lack of a clean sheet at home being the difference in the end. After thrashing this team 5-0 in the week before the semi-final games took place, losing out on the away goal was a major disappointment for the team.
