Gamba Osaka 4-1 Matsumoto Yamaga

next
In their penultimate match of the season Gamba took the home win and consigned their visitors to a 2020 season in J2 with goals from Yosuke Ideguchi - a brace - Kosuke Onose and Ademilson. Onose's right foot rocket into the top corner gave Gamba their lead moments after Ryo Nagai had seen his attempt trickle off a post for Yamaga as they looked to save their J1 place. Onose unleashed an unstoppable shot after a Takashi Usami corner was half cleared and slipped into the path of the Gamba number 8 by Kim Young-gwon.

Gamba doubled their lead through Ideguchi after a move that involved Usami, Yasuhito Endo and others spraying the ball around, before seeing it crossed from the left to Shinya Yajima to head against a post. Ideguchi followed up for the simple tap-in to make it 2-0. Ideguchi then doubled his personal tally and gave Gamba a 3-0 half time lead just before the break, deftly chipping the 'keeper as good work from Ademilson created the opening.

The home team then went 4-0 up before the hour mark when Usami and Yajima combined on the right before the latter sent a deep far post cross for the unmarked Ademilson to volley home at the far post. Kazuma Watanabe almost added a fifth goal for the blue and black hordes, moments after coming on as a substitute, his right foot shot bouncing away off a post.

Cruising to victory in their final 2019 J1 game in front of their own fans, Gamba let their guard down momentarily in the final throes of the game and allowed former Gamba centre back Hiroki Mizumoto to grab one back for the away team but, in the end, a 4-1 home win will not be complained about!
