The game started well as a trio of players exchanged quick passes on the left wing to give Takashi Usami space to head towards the goal line. He then pulled the ball back across the goal to the open Kosuke Onose who deftly steered the ball past a defender and between the goalkeeper and the post to give Gamba a well-deserved early lead.
Masaaki Higashiguchi in the Gamba goal was called into action midway through the 1st half, getting down well to his left to stop a shot from Evaraldo, the rebound hitting another Antlers player and bouncing wide.
Early in the 2nd half Usami almost doubled his team's lead as he chased down a ball that a defender was allowing to bounce, grabbing the ball and rounding the advancing 'keeper, who just managed to get a touch and divert the Gamba striker wide, but Usami still managed to steady and get a blistering shot in that stung the 'keeper's fingers.
Moments later it was Onose's turn to get back in the action as he flicked a low cross at the 'keeper from close range, the ball hitting the unwitting custodian, who then managed to save the follow-up shot, too. Gamba would live to regret the missed chances as Tomoya Inukai rose to meet a cross in the 95th minute, and see his header go in off the post to give the Gamba team more disappointment for the week, dropping two more points in a 1-1 draw.
