Kashiwa Reysol 3-0 Gamba Osaka

next
Gamba Osaka saw defeat at the hands of the yellow army of Kashiwa but
it was much closer than the scoreline suggests as Gamba matched the
shot count of their hosts but just could not get the ball in the net.

Going a goal down in the 2nd minute did not help the team settle as
Olunga beat Gen Shoji's offside trap and advance to beat Masaaki
Higashiguchi. Despite the early setback Gamba looked good going
forward and deserved to get back into the game, Ademilson forcing
save and then good work from Yosuke Ideguchi creating space for Shu
Kurata to chip the 'keeper from close range, but seeing his attempt
bounce off the top of the bar.

Just as Gamba looked to be getting into the game they allowed a second
goal, with Ataru Esaka someone getting in among the three central
defenders to head home. Shu Kurata did finally "score" a goal, but saw
his shot disallowed for the offside position of Takashi Usami, who
appeared to be onside anyway and did not touch the ball. A
game-changing moment. 2-0 to the home team at the break.

The half time deficit did not affect Gamba's confidence and they came
out for the 2nd half looking for goals, and Usami stung the fingers of
the 'keeper three minutes into the half with a 25-yard blast, before
Hiroki Fujiharu saw a shot blocked down low on the line by the busy
goalkeeper, and then the follow-up shot from Yuki Yamamoto deflected
wide with the 'keeper out of position. At this point Gamba were doing
everything but score but then Reysol added a third goal out of nowhere
as a long ball up field found space, and the cross came in. Olunga at
the front post missed his chance, but Esaka at the back post stopped
low to head home the bouncing ball. Game over, 3-0!
