Gamba Osaka 2-1 Nagoya Grampus

Gamba Osaka went behind to a Mu Kanazaki goal before half time but came storming back to take the points against high-flying Nagoya Grampus. Before the game Takashi Usami was feted for his 150th J1 game, but then started this one on the bench as manager Tusneyasu Miyamoto gave him a break - he was to come on later and take the glory again! Genta Miura was also missing after going off injured in the previous match.

Gamba managed to play their own style of football and dictate the play at times, Yosuke Ideguchi coming close with a long range blast in the 15th minute but minutes later a Grampus corner was swung in, headed on at the near post and Mu Kanazaki poked a foot between two defenders' heads to poke home the opening goal of the game. Mateus then had a chance for Grampus to double their lead, his left foot shot from a long bouncing ball half-saved by Masaaki Higashiguchi, the crossbar doing the rest!

Yuki Yamamoto was given the responsibility of taking a very centrally-located free kick in the 53rd minute, after some fine passwork from Gamba approaching the area was halted by a yellow card challenge from Shinnosuke Nakatani, on Kosuke Onose and that faith in the youngster was rewarded with a goal that went through the wall, to give Gamba the equaliser they so richly deserved.

Gamba continued to look for the win as they racked up at least twice the number of goal attempts as their visitors, Ademilson coming close just after the hour mark as he rattled the bottles at the side of the goal with a right foot shot. Another fine passing move in the 75th minute saw a volley from Ademilson to finish it off, but it was over the bar of the relieved 'keeper.

A triple change came next for Gamba, with Usami, Yasuhito Endo and Kazuma Watanabe coming on in the 76th minute to freshen up an attack that was really pushing for the win, and that's what they got, with two of the substitutes playing their part. Endo received the ball after some fine passing between Gamba players to stretch the defence and then he sent a pinpoint lob over the top of the defence for Kosuke Onose to run on to. The Gamba no.8 enticed the 'keeper to come out but then slipped the ball back and it was down to Usami to take a couple of touches before blasting the ball into the net past the defenders on the line.

2-1. Game over. Three points. Two wins running. Bring on Sanfrecce Hiroshima next week!
