Shimizu S-Pulse 1-1 Gamba Osaka

Another away game for Gamba Osaka, and another 1-1 draw that really could have been a win, but, in the end, it was a last-gasp goal from Kosuke Onose that saved them a point, when they probably thought that they deserved all three. A game with chances at both ends, with numerous goal attempts for each side, and 50-50 in ball possession... perhaps a draw was a fair result.

The 1st half saw both teams with half chances but none really tested the goalkeepers, Patric and Hideki Ishige - against his former team - spurning breaks, and Keisuke Kurokawa almost scoring a glorious goal just before the break, his crisp first-time shot after a pass from Hiroto Yamami rocketing just past the post with the 'keeper stranded, and watching, relieved.

No score at the break but Gamba went a goal down 12 minutes after the restart, when Oh-Se-hun followed up on a saved header with a fortunate volley that somehow went through the legs of the jumping goalkeeper and then bounced up and over the head of Genta Miura on the goal-line. Good fortune giving the Korean striker his first J1 goal, but they all count.

Gamba went all-out looking for the equaliser after conceding and came closer and closer to getting it as the game wore on, Onose seeing a low shot saved, and then Leandro Pereira heading against a post as the game headed to a close. The leveling goal finally came in the last moments of the game, as Yuki Yamamoto's free kick was blocked - appeals for handball quietening as Onose crisply half-volleyed home the second ball. 1-1, level at last, and another away draw for Gamba Osaka. The wins will come!
