Gamba Osaka 1-3 Kashima Antlers
Gamba Osaka's Covid-affected / second string squad welcomed Kashima Antlers - a strong representation from them - in the final match of the 2022 Levain Cup group stage, and went down fighting. Rikuto Kuwahara and Harumi Minamino got starts as Gamba really threw in the youth!
It was a game that saw Kashima Antlers take the win against an experienced Gamba side, and help them through into the next stage of the competition. Goals from Ayase Ueda and Shoma Doi saw Antlers out to a 2-0 lead before Genta Miura pulled a goal back for our heroes, heading home an assist from Hiroto Yamami in the 78th minute.
The perceived revival was short-lived however, as minutes later Doi added his second goal of the game and made it safe for a Kashima Antlers 3-1 win.
