Gamba Osaka traveled to the team on top of J1 looking desperately for points and came home with an efficient and well-deserved win after a superb performance on the road. Manager Hiroshi Matsuda brought in Dawhan for the suspended Mitsuki Saito, switched Patric in for Leandro Pereira up front, and gave Kosuke Onose a start on the right of midfield, moving Juan Alano to the left - who displaced Ryotaro Meshino to the bench.

After Gamba 'keeper Masaaki Higashiguchi was called into action early on to save from Kota Mizunuma, Gamba opened the scoring as Alano headed home at a corner, after Dawhan had headed the deep cross back across goal - the Brazilians combining to give the away team an early lead. The away team then controlled the midfield whenever they needed to and cleaned up in defence, allowing their host plenty of possession in areas that did not matter, and the score remained 1-0 to the good guys at the break.

The 2nd half also saw Gamba with chances, Dawhan's header saved, and then a right-foot shot from Usami denied by the goalkeeper as Gamba played the percentages on counter-attacks after clearing up in defence whenever it was needed. Juan Alano almost had a second but for a fine save from Yohei Takaoka in the 78th minute but he couldn't deny Patric Gamba's second from the resulting corner, which was half-cleared but recycled in for Patric to control with his chest and strike the bouncing ball home to double Gamba's lead and seal the win.

But the home side did finally come to life after going two goals down and the post and Higashiguchi ensured that Gamba took all three points home with them.

The final stats in this game showed the home team with a massive 80% at the end of the match, as Gamba cleverly sat back and only expended their energy when they needed to, holding onto their lead with the perfect tactics to take out the top team.
