Nagoya Grampus 1-0 Gamba Osaka

As is becoming a habit this season, Gamba Osaka got nothing from a match in which they dominated at times, but could not finish. With close to 60% they eventually went down to a defensive clearance deflecting of an opposition player in the net for the most unfortunate of goals, and most undeserving of defeats!

It was all Gamba in the early stages of the game, with chances falling to Riku Handa - connecting with a free kick at the near post, but sending the ball wide - then Ryotaro Meshino sprinting down the left wing before cutting inside and mesmerising the defence, but shooting just over. It was the 37th minute before the home team got their half chance, but Ryoya Morishita sent a half volley just over the bar after connecting with a deep cross from the right. The teams remained deadlocked at 0-0 at the break.

It was right back Handa again in the 58th minute, who motored down the wing to receive a pass from Jebali and then proceeded to trick his way past defenders to shoot inches wide of the far post. Minutes later Juan Alano took a ball into the box and shot into the side netting as he was being brought down. Claims for a penalty kick were ignored and then Gamba were a goal down in the most unfortunate way, some pinball in the box eventually bouncing in off Sho Inagaki, who knew little about his goal!

Gamba continued to dominate periods of the game, and Neta Lavi saw his shot tipped over the bar in added time as the home team held on, gratefully, for all three points, somehow!
