With Hwang Ui-jo missing through suspension, Ademilson was given the striker's job and he did that job to perfection, lobbing the home 'keeper just before the break after an intelligent through pass from Shu Kurata created the chance.
Kazuma Watanabe had Kim Jin-hyeon working as early as the 5th minute after latching on to a through ball from Ademilson after some good passing on the right side of the field. Midway through the half it was Ademilson again creating the chance, this time slipping the ball into the path of Kurata, who advanced from the half way line to force another save from the goalkeeper, although it took Toshiyuki Takagi steaming in to clear the ball off the line to complete the save.
Then it was the turn of Masaaki Higashiguchi in the Gamba goal to get a little of the action as he tipped a Sousa shot onto the bar, but most of the work was being done by the home defence in this game, and they failed for the first time in the 45th minute, as Kurata's ball bounced invitingly for Ademilson to lob it over the 'keeper to give Gamba the half time lead.
The 2nd half saw more calm and collected passing by the Gamba team, who remained in control throughout the game, the closest Cerezo came to worrying the defence was a free kick that Higashiguchi palmed clear at his left-hand post. Gamba did not allow their hosts back into the game and walked away with another Osaka Derby victory.
