Gamba Osaka 1-0 Cerezo Osaka

Gamba Osaka once again prevailed in the Osaka Derby and, while it was down to a single Shu Kurata goal 10 minutes after the break, the youngsters that Tsuneyasu Miyamoto started in this crucial game looked comfortable and could have won it with a little more ease in the end. The team started with a three man defence, including young Ryu Takao, and two wing backs in Kosuke Onose and another youngster making his mark - on the left wing - Yuya Fukuda. Another of Miyamoto's J3 kids - Leo Takao - started in the middle of the park.

Gamba pushed high, passed the ball and looked for openings but they were given one from an unlikely source when Cerezo centre back Matej Jonjic miskicked a pass back to his 'keeper and Hwang Ui-jo pounced, advanced on the cowering goalkeeper but them shot straight at him, as he let off the pink side. Moments later Ysuhito Endo, Takae and Ademilson combined well to make space for Hwang and again his shot was easy for the 'keeper to grab.

Cerezo had been restricted to a couple of chances when a long ball had been aimed up the park, Masaaki Higashiguchi in the goal for Gamba stopping Toshiyuki Takagi once and then Hiroshi Kiyotake being robbed before he could control the ball later. 0-0 at the break but the home side with by far the better chances.

Kurata eventually took one of those chances, latching onto a through ball after Takao and Takae had combined to thread the ball into the area, but then Kurata's first touch and then blast into the roof of the net was superb! 1-0 - a goal to win a Derby!

Ademilson came close to doubling the lead in the 66th minute when a superb long ball from Shinya Yajima found Hwang heading down the left channel, he took his time, drew the defender and then slipped the ball aside to the in-rushing Ademilson, but the Brazilian sliced the ball wide with the goal gaping. Kurata's goal was enough to give Gamba the win and bragging rights to Osaka until the nest meeting between these two great rivals.
