Moments later Genta Miura headed home at the near post from an inswinging free kick but was judged to have been offside when the ball was kicked and match remained scoreless at half time.
An early chance for Gamba in the 2nd half saw Leo Takae blast a bouncing ball at goal with the fortunate Kaminski getting a hand to it and then seeing it bounce back off his post, as Gamba looked for the win. Takae then turned creator with a superb tackle in the middle of the park to thwart an attack and a ball over the top to Ryotaro Meshino to run on to and shoot, the youngster seeing his attempt go inches high and wide of the keeper's top left corner.
At the other end of the field Masaaki Higashiguchi was rarely being troubled, thanks in part to a decent defence getting in before the shot made its way towards the 'keeper, one such sliding block by Miura in the 78th minute a perfect example. The same was happening in the Jubilo box, also, though, with some desperate defending keeping the game scoreless, and Keito Nakamura wasting the best chance of the game, perhaps, with minutes to go, blasting over from about 10 yards out when it seemed easier to hit the target.
With what seemed like the final play of the match, though, Shinya Yajima had the chance to seal all three points after a slick Gamba one-touch passing move spread the ball from one side of the field to the other and Nakamura's dinked cross found the diminutive midfielder, but his header was straight at the grateful 'keeper, who pushed it away. From the resulting corner Kaminski was forced into another save, then another desperate defensive block ensured that the home team scraped a point out of this.
Another clean sheet for Gamba, but another game that could have easily been won with better finishing and a stroke of luck somewhere!
