Tatsuya Tanaka opened the scoring just after the half hour mark after Gamba had been controlling the game but had failed to finish - this was an emphatic finish, the former Roasso Kumamoto man volleying a half-cleared cross home across the 'keeper from the edge of the area. Despite all the possession it was not until the 54th minute that Shu Kuyrata doubled the lead, nonchalantly flicking home at the near post after Ademilson had taken his defender one, then the other to find space for the low cross.
Four minutes later it was the plucky Brazilian himself getting on the scoresheet, guiding home a perfectly-flighted Koki Yonekura cross with a flick of his shoulder! 3-0 with not an hour gone, but Gamba were to add only one more goal before the end of this contest as Keito Nakamura poked home from point blank range after a left wing Jungo Fujimoto cross was guided back across the goal by Yonekura, ghosting in at the far post. The goalkeeper was beaten and Nakamura made sure the ball made it over the line, with Yonekura good-humouredly complaining it was going in and that he had wanted the goal!
With a 4-1 lead to sit back on - the home team pulled one back in added time - the 2nd leg of this battle takes place at Panasonic Stadium on Wednesday June 26th, kick off 19.00! Be there!
