Gamba had plenty of chances to win this match before the eventual goal that mattered, and as early as the 14th minute Keito Nakamura was unleashing a shot from the edge of the area that flew just over the bar. At the other end, Gamba were not having it all their own way, though and Masaaki Higashiguchi in the home goal was forced into his top corner to save a direct free kick from Temma Matsuda just after the half hour mark.
As the 2nd half began Yasuhito Endo came on for his 616th J1 match - an incredible record for the veteran still capable of changing games and then, in the 73rd minute Meshino made his appearance. At this point Gamba were showing almost 70% of possession in their favour but still had not made it count. Things were about to change. Within minutes of coming on Meshino sent a left foot shot skidding inches past the 'keeper's right-hand post as Gamba turned up the heat on their visitors. It was Meshino again who had a right foot shot desperately blocked by a flying defender in the 85th minute, too.
And so it was, in the 91st minute that young Meshino took the ball on the left wing... went one way, then the other, feinted to shoot, then switched direction again before burying a low right foot shot in at the far post ti give his team maximum points.
