Gamba Osaka 0-2 V-Varen Nagasaki

next
Leading 4-1 after the away leg Gamba Osaka did not seem too motivated in this game and seemed to have league play on their minds as Tsuneyasu Miyamoto took the opportunity to give his reserves a run out, with Mizuki Hyashi getting the start in goal (with Ken Tajiro on the bench), Naoaki Aoyama a rare start in central defence and Kazuma Watanabe given another chance to regain fitness up front. Spaniard David Concha also got the start as Gamba looked to not lose this one by three or four goals, and avoid injuries while doing so!

In the end, very late goals from V-Varen on 87 and 94 minutes gave them a 2-0 win that did not tell the story of the match but left no one on the home side concerned as Gamba marched on in the Levain Cup 4-3 on aggregate.

The quarter-finals of the tournament will be played across two legs in early September, when the four 2019 ACL-qualified J.League clubs will join the draw.
