PICKUP PLAYER MF38 Gaku NAWATA"I'm determined to score, assist, and win in order to repay my debt."
After two consecutive away games, we're back home. This is the final match of the J1 League season at Panasonic Stadium Suita. I'll be determined to score, assist, and win to repay the kindness of the fans and supporters, the staff led by Coach Dani (Head Coach), my teammates, and everyone who has continued to encourage me.
My first year as a pro was a season in which I once again felt the power of home ground. Ever since my high school days, I've felt the encouragement of the support and the spurs on I felt from that atmosphere, but experiencing the heat, volume, and home atmosphere of the stadium was many times greater, and it made me feel like I was at one of the J League's best "homes." Every time I experienced that atmosphere, I felt an urge to play! As a result, I haven't been to Panasonic Stadium Suita since the J League opening match, but if I get the chance to play in this match against Tokyo Verdy, I will use my play to fully express my regrets and gratitude from the past year, as well as my determination for next season.
Looking back at these two away matches, in the AFC Champions League 2 match against Toho we were on top as a team from start to finish and managed to score goals, but in the J1 League 37th Sec. match against Avispa Fukuoka we were unable to start the first half with the intention of keeping possession of the ball and controlling the game, which is something we regret. In the second half we were able to play the kind of football we wanted to play, but we were also reminded that in the world of competition, results are everything, so we need to face that head on.
Among those goals, I personally managed to score my first professional goal in the match against Toho. To be honest, I was thinking that it would be bad if we didn't score, so I was relieved to score, but the match also reminded me that I need to contribute more in areas other than scoring. As an attacking midfielder, my role is to create the potential to score in the situations I'm involved in and turn those into goals, and while I felt that I wasn't doing enough in that regard, I also think that I was able to score because I was able to continue doing that role without rushing.
Tokyo Verdy, our opponent this week, is a team that I think is capable of working extremely hard. Their midfielder, Koki MORITA, is one of the most skilled in the J.League, and their two wingbacks are constantly moving up and down between offense and defense. I think they are a team that can express their determination to win through their play. To beat them at all costs, we want to fight hard and excel in areas such as close to the ball and in play, and if we can win there, I believe we will definitely win. Please support us.
