Head Coach comments after the match
Head Coach: "We had two consecutive matches, and of course it was hot, and we had two days off between matches, so we were in a tough situation, but we played two consecutive matches at home, and in the last match we got three points against Hiroshima, and we prepared with the desire to get three points against Urawa again today. In the end, we only got one point, and the match ended 1-1, so we weren't able to get three points, but I think the players really fought tough and hard until the end, even in this situation. The first half was particularly great, and I think we outplayed our opponents. And we were able to score the opening goal, and I really wanted to get the second goal in the first half. In the second half, Urawa was behind, and I knew they would come up with a strategy to make substitutions and play, and they had high-quality bench members, some with speed, and some foreign players, so I thought we might not be able to win with just one goal, so we aimed for more goals in the second half, but I think we didn't have the power to attack as we wanted at the end. I think it was because we had played consecutive games, and the players put their efforts into holding on to the one-point lead until the end. It would have been best if we could have held on and won 1-0, but unfortunately we were tied and ended up with one point. However, I am very positive and would like to praise the players. We have another away game coming up next against Shonan, and then another away game against Kawasaki F with two days in between, but I would like to make sure we are in good condition and the players are fired up, so that we can get revenge for our loss at home and play a game that we can win.
Q: "I think Ishige, who assisted on the goal, showed great play on both offense and defense. During this string of matches, you played the full game in a league match for the first time this season. How would you evaluate your performance today?"
Head Coach Katanozaka: "I think he did very well. He was substituted in the last match against Hiroshima, but he performed well, and today against Urawa he worked well within the team's aims, and Hide (Ishige) showed his strengths. Those kinds of assist balls and passes are things that Hide is very good at, so I think it was good that he was able to do that. I don't think he's a player who can't play for 90 minutes in the future, I think he's a player who can do it, and I want him to prepare himself so that he can contribute to the team again."
Q: Since the break, Ishige's plays have been more effective on both offense and defense. You said that you spoke with Head Coach Katanosaka during the break, but how do you feel about his changes?
Head Coach Katanozaka: "Hide is a player with a very strong tactical eye, and he also has a high level of tactical understanding. He is a player who can make firm decisions about how he should play, so if we restrict him too much, his strengths won't come out, so we decided to leave it up to Hide to a certain extent and have him play according to his own intuition. In that context, we also talked about how we wanted Hide to boldly demonstrate his ideas in terms of attack and defense, and I think that in that context, he is playing boldly according to his own judgment. I think that this is moving in a good direction now. It's not that anything goes, but we do have team standards for both attack and defense, and I think that Hide is doing a good job of coming up with ideas and making decisions within those standards, taking those into consideration as well."
Q: Regarding the substitutions, I think there were many players on the bench who were a bit more defensive, and I think you wanted to score the second goal, but the game ended up like that. Was the substitution made because you expected the players to be pushed back due to a certain degree of fatigue?
Head Coach: "It wasn't what I expected. I wanted to continue the battle from the first half into the second half, and I brought in players in the back, and as you said, it may seem defensive, but the fatigue was visible. Fukuoka had cramps, and Kurokawa looked a little tired after playing so many games, and Okuno looked in great shape, but DAWHAN is a player who fights for the ball in the midfield, so I hope that this will help give the team more momentum. As for the attacking card, Anderson PATRIC Aguiar Oliveira or Yamami, if they weren't tired, I would have liked to play both of them, and I wanted to step up the gear at the end and aim for the second goal with the good cooperation of the two, but I chose Anderson PATRIC Aguiar Oliveira this time because I could only use one substitute card at the end, and even after the score was tied, I was hoping that Pat's strengths would come out, including from set pieces, but unfortunately we ended up with just one point."
Q: "The first half was a really good game, but in the second half your legs slowed down. I think that's something to be expected in the upcoming games, so do you feel confident about that or are you worried about it?"
Head Coach Katanozaka: "I feel a great sense of accomplishment. If they can't run, then we have to make them run, and we're asking them to run now, and we're trying to incorporate high-stress, high-intensity training as much as possible, depending on the timing, so I don't think we have to go on the defensive because they can't run. I think it's all about how long we can keep up the first half of the fight in the second half, and if we could have fought like the first half for 45 minutes in the second half, today's game would have definitely been a game where we could have gotten three points, so that's how I want to think about it, and if they can't run, I want to make sure they can run, and the substitutes are prepared in that way, and I want to make substitutions that don't stop the team's momentum, and I want everyone to make that kind of preparation."
Q: "Sakamoto-san, you've been playing without showing any signs of fatigue in the last few games. You dribbled the ball when you scored the first goal, and in the second half you made a move against (Alexander) Scholz and took a shot. Since your goal against Hiroshima, it seems like you've grown into a new player, or you're showing signs of awakening. What is your assessment of your performance?"
Head Coach Katanozaka: "I want him to awaken. Yes, I think he really gained confidence after scoring in the Hiroshima match, and today I saw him playing in a way that was truly characteristic of Issai (Sakamoto) without any hesitation, which I felt was very reliable. However, although he didn't get results today, I think Issai is doing a really good job in terms of contributing to the team on both offense and defense. How long can he continue to do this, and one more point is, can he score goals that will help the team? I think he is a player who can point the arrow at himself, and I want him to continue to point the Musashi SUZUKI as reinforcement, I think the competition in the front line will be intensified, and with that in mind, I don't know how many chances he will get in the future, but when that happens, I want him to contribute by playing his role well, as he did today, and for the sake of the team, by showing his strengths."
