Gamba Osaka 3-1 FC Tokyo

Gamba Osaka lined up against an unchanged capital city team looking for another win and another three points after their victory over Avispa Fukuoka in the previous game. That win came with ease, 3-1 the score, with Issam Jebali bagging a brace and Riku Handa the other. Gamba controlled the game and played it at their pace and could have been a goal up before Jebali opened his account, Juan Alano finishing off a counter-attack with a shot down low in the 24th minute that goalkeeper Jakub Slowik scrambled away for a corner.

The resulting Yuki Yamamoto corner was headed down by Yota Sato - as Masato Morishige seemed more intent on ripping the Gamba defender's shirt of his back than actually looking for the ball - and to the feet of Jebali who controlled, turned and shot low into the net to give his team the lead. That lead was doubled just minutes later when Dawhan advanced down the right channel and sent in a ball that Jebali glanced past Slowik to make it 2-0 just before the half-hour mark.

The away team finally forced Gamba's Masaaki Higashiguchi into action just after the restart, but Diego Oliveira's header was weak and easy-picking for the the Gamba 'keeper. Gamba's third goal came from a move that started in the left back position, as Neta Lavi picked up the loose ball and switched sides in one fluid movement, sending right back Riku Handa down the channel. His speed easily out-stripped his left back and he advanced towards the area. Juan Alano took over and moved the ball forward and into the area, where Yuki Yamamoto touched it back to Handa who was still steaming ahead. The right back finished with aplomb and Gamba were 3-0 ahead and cruising, after a flowing counter attack that left their opposition completely helpless.

FC Tokyo started to come back into the game after going down three goals, as Gamba perhaps took their foot off the gas and slowed down a little, and Oliveira came very close to the 3-1 goal getting on the end of a Shuhei Tokumoto cross in the 66th minute, but Yota Sato was their to ensure it was a difficult take.

In the 71st minute substitute Yuya Fukuda got on the end of a Jebali header back across the goal and must have thought he had scored, only to see Slowik stop his point blank half volley and keep the score down to three, and minutes later Hideki Ishige poked the ball inches past the post as Gamba continued to look for more goals. Gamba did not manage to add to their tally, however, and in added time, against the run of play, Koki Tsukagawa pulled a goal back for his team with a header back across the 'keeper and the final score stalled at Gamba 3-1 FC Tokyo.
