It was a much-changed line-up that took the field, with Kei Ishikawa in goal, and the likes of Keisuke Kurokawa and Kohei Okuno getting starts, too, and this team did not take long to get started, with Patric opening the scoring in the 2nd minute of the game with a bullet header from an inswinging cross.
Wellington Silva doubled Gamba's lead in the 26th minute, converting a penalty kick that he himself had earned after advancing into the area and being taken down by the 'keeper.
Patric was literally inches from adding another goal in the 40th minute before his team did extend the lead. Next on the scoresheet was Shu Kurata, who has only been on the field a matter of minutes after replacing the injured Kosuke Onose. Some intricate passing found him in space in the area, and then some close control and a sublime finish put Gamba 3-0 up at the break, although the woodwork and the goalkeeper managed to stop the home team going in four up, as an incredible passage of play saw Gamba somehow not score!!
After such excellent work just before the break, though, the Bellmare goalkeeper - Daiki Tomii - gifted Patric his second, and Gamba's fourth goal of the game, passing it to the Brazilian striker's feet just eight yards out of an open goal!!
Sosuke Shibata then scored a peach of a goal to bring a consolation to the away team but that was all they were going to get and Gamba Osaka ran out well-deserving 4-1 winners and advanced to the quarter finals of the Emperor's Cup, to be played on October 27th, against Urawa Reds at Panasonic Stadium.
