Sagan Tosu 3-0 Gamba Osaka

Gamba Osaka went down to a rather fortunate Sagan Tosu team in this relegation six-pointer, as all three of the opposition forwards managed a goal - although crediting the first to Yuji Ono was a bit of a stretch for J.League as the strikers off target snap shot was deflected back toward the goal and in for the 1-0 lead just after the half time break. Until the goal the game had been quite uneventful as the 'keepers at both ends were hardly troubled. Ademilson managed a snapshot after a slick passing move had made him space in the 35th minute, but it was straight at the grateful goalkeeper, then Mu Kanazaki called Masaaki Higashiguchi into action at the other end, the Gamba number 1 producing a smart save down low to keep the game level at the break.

Then came the huge slice of luck that changed the match with Ono's shot from distance taking a huge deflection off the back of Shu Kurata - and even then Higashiguchi made an acrobatic attempt to change direction and managed to get a hand on the ball! Kanazaki doubled the lead for the home team just over 10 minutes later, first-timing a curler into the far corner past the unsighted 'keeper.

Fernando Torres added the third goal with minutes to go as Gamba threw caution to the wind, looking for goals and got caught on the break and with Gamba continuing to look for goals Higashiguchi was called on for another superb save to deny Kanazaki adding his second and his teams fourth goal. A bad day at the office in the end for Tsueyasu Miyamoto and his team.
