Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo 0-0 Gamba Osaka

Gamba Osaka went to high-flying Consadole on the back of a well-deserved and vital Osaka Derby win and then a creditable away draw - while playing a very changed team - in the Levain Cup at Matsumoto Yamaga. While a win could have been possible in the end, manager Tsuneyasu Miyamoto and his players would have surely taken a point and a clean sheet if offered it prior to kick off, and they may well have returned to Osaka disappointed after failing to win this match.

The 13th minute saw a Hwang Ui-jo shot worry the home team after the Gamba midfield had forced a turnover. The ball fell to Ademilson who, in turn, fed Hwang but the left foot shot was not enough to beat the 'keeper. At the other end an Akito Fukumori free kick and a right-footed shot from Chanathip, both going wide, were the worst that Masaaki Higashiguchi in the Gamba goal had to worry about.

The best chance of the half fell to Shu Kurata on the stroke of half time as he latched on to a through pass, rounded the 'keeper and was pulled back by a defender tugging at his shoulder as he was about to shoot. Incredibly no penalty kick was given and the match remain scoreless going in at the half.

Just before the hour mark Ademilson made a run from deep within his own half and beat three players before being robbed on the edge of the area just as the Brazilian was about to pull the trigger! Gamba had their final chance to win the match in the 93rd minute when Hwang found space to hit a left foot shot but it was comfortable for the goalkeeper, but then Consadole attacked, also, with seconds to go but it ended in nothing and the match finished with shared points.
