Hwang Ui-jo came close to adding a second goal just after the half-hour mark as he tried to flick home at the near post, while appearing to get taken down from behind, too. Neither a goal or a PK came about, though and moments later Tokyo were back in it. By the time the ball was noticeably slowing on the waterlogged field and hindering Gamba's patent passing game and an attack on the left saw uncertainty of the ball's course and a defender slipping before the cross was half-cleared, but the fortune favoured the home side as the ball fell to Kensuke Nagai who blasted from close range. Masaaki Higashiguchi in the Gamba goal looked to have made the save but the ball managed to find it's way in off the gloves of the unfortunate goalkeeper.
It was Nagai again, with his second of the game, who gave his team the lead as he managed to get a head to an inswinging cross that gave Higashiguchi no chance at his left-hand post, then somehow, just before the hour mark the home team were 3-1 up as Diego Oliveira saw his left-foot shot go in off the 'keeper's hand and a post.
Gamba still had 30 minutes to try to salvage this match, however, and Ademilson had his chance in front of goal before Hwang looked to be heading for the second goal, but Akihiro Hayashi got a hand to it to keep the score down. With time running down Tokyo's defence was tested again with a Genta Miura shot blocked, then the follow-up from Keito Nakamura was again beaten away before the ball was headed desperately out for a corner. But the home team's parked bus held out to finally take the points and keep them top of the league and end Gamba's fine run of points.
