About the "SDGsmile" Project
Since its founding, GAMBA OSAKA has been carrying out various activities based on three basic management principles: "Contributing to the promotion of sports culture," "Creating dreams and excitement in society through soccer," and "Working closely with the local community to contribute to revitalizing the local community."
At GAMBA OSAKA, we have been working on various activities, primarily hometown activities, to address the challenges facing society, and now, as we mark the milestone of our 30th anniversary, we will take another look at where we are at and further deepen and promote these efforts.
The theme of the activity is "SDGsmile."
With the goal of "GAMBA OSAKA bringing smiles to the local community," we will continue to act as an indispensable part of the community, serving as a bridge between fans, supporters, and partner companies, and working to realize a better future for the local people so that they can achieve a better life.
GAMBA OSAKA will focus on at least four of the 17 SDGs goals.
As for other goals, we will start by doing what we can.
What are the SDGs?
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are international goals aimed at creating a sustainable and better world by 2030, as stated in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which was unanimously adopted by member states at the United Nations Summit in September 2015 as the successor to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) formulated in 2001.The SDGs consist of 17 goals and 169 targets, and pledge to "leave no one behind" on the planet. The SDGs are universal goals that not only developing countries but also developed countries themselves should work on, and Japan is also actively working on them.

Hometown Activities
"Interaction Activities" Initiatives with the 7 Hometown Cities
This project has been ongoing since 2003 with the aim of promoting healthy youth development among children living in their hometowns. As part of these activities, players visit elementary schools during school hours with the cooperation of each city's board of education.
During the class, under the guidance of the academy coach, the players demonstrate their juggling skills and interact with the children by playing mini-games.In the mini-games, the players' breaks elicit cheers, and when the students play against the teacher's team, they cheer on the teacher's team, creating a lot of excitement.

"Naniwa Juvenile Prison Visiting Project" Collaboration between Naniwa Juvenile Prison and Ibaraki Rose Lions Club
This activity, sponsored by the Ibaraki Rose Lions Club, has been ongoing since 2009 to help the inmates reintegrate into society by teaching them about the struggles and setbacks they faced on the way to becoming a pro soccer player, as well as the mindset of a professional soccer player, through soccer classes and question-and-answer sessions. -
"Stick Soccer Tournament" Initiative with Toyonaka City
We conduct stick soccer activities with the aim of preventing the need for nursing care, and to allow even elderly people to enjoy soccer casually, and to increase their motivation to win, which tends to fade as they get older, and to improve their motivation to live life towards their goals. -
"GAMBA OSAKA Osaka Scanbio Cup"
We hold the GAMBA OSAKA Scanbio Cup to create a place where everyone can experience social life through sports and to support their reintegration into society.Scanbio means "exchange" in Italian, and we aim to create a sports culture that transcends all differences, such as gender, race, poverty, family environment, and disabilities.
Activities in collaboration with partner companies
Eco-friendly beer cup (Mori no Tumbler) (2019~)
Together with Asahi Breweries Ltd.and Panasonic Corporation, we are working to promote the reduction of CO2 emissions and plastic waste in consumer behavior and foster a culture of reusing beverage containers by using the "Mori no Tumbler," a beverage container that uses a high concentration of organic resources. The Mori no Tumbler uses a "high-concentration cellulose fiber molding material" made primarily from pulp refined from thinned wood, and is discarded as a paper product (combustible material). There is a lot of plastic cup and PET bottle waste at GAMBA OSAKA home games, and GAMBA OSAKA aims to reduce this and is considering replacing all cups with "Mori no Tumbler" in the future.
"Revitalizing Osaka through Agriculture" (2018-)
From the perspective of "sustainable consumption and production," we are conducting agricultural experiences for high school youth players with the cooperation of JA Osaka Central Union, a partner of GAMBA OSAKA.We also carry out activities based on local production and consumption, such as presenting Japanese rice balls made with local Osaka rice to visitors at home games and providing food boxes for VIP spectators using vegetables from Osaka.
Other Activities
"Recycling activities for used PET bottles" (2017~)
Since the 2017 season, we have been working with GAMBA OSAKA to recycle used PET bottles generated at the stadium together with TEIJIN FRONTIER CO., LTD., an eco-activity partner of GAMBA OSAKA Osaka. To collect PET bottles, students from Mizuno Koji's seminar at Otemae University, a business school, who are Gamba GAMBA OSAKA's eco-activity partner, call for cooperation in collecting and separating the bottles at collection points set up inside and outside the stadium, and also remove the caps and discard any leftover drinks to make them easier to recycle. The aim of this activity is to recycle the collected PET bottles into polyester fiber and turn them into GAMBA OSAKA goods.
Panasonic Stadium Suita (2016~)
The stadium will be an eco-stadium that will utilize LED lighting, solar power, and rainwater, and will also feature a disaster supply storehouse and be capable of functioning as a temporary evacuation shelter and disaster response headquarters in the event of an emergency.
Ministry of Transport "Ministry of Housing and Buildings C02 Pioneer Project" / Ministry of the Environment "Project to Promote the Construction of an Independent and Distributed Low-Carbon Energy Society"
Initiatives towards a "smoke-free stadium" (from 2020)
In accordance with the Health Promotion Act, which was partially revised in April 2020, we are working on separating smoking areas in order to create a "smoke-free stadium."
Smoking areas around the stadium have been designated exclusively for smokeless heated tobacco products, and cigarettes are only available in the smoking area next to the bicycle parking area in the back stand, significantly restricting the use of lit, combustible cigarettes.
This is the first such initiative by a J.League club in western Japan, and aims to create a cleaner and more comfortable environment.
"Online sales of discount tickets for people with disabilities" (2021)
In response to the recommendation in the "Key Plan for the Realization of a Digital Society" (Cabinet decision on June 18, 2021) to offer discounted tickets for people with disabilities online, Mirairo Ticket will be selling discounted tickets online for people with disabilities. We also provide audio reading for people with visual impairments.
