PICKUP PLAYER FW7 Takashi USAMI: "I will show an aggressive attitude both mentally and physically, and win in front of a packed Panasonic Stadium Suita!"

We've returned to Panasonic Stadium Suita for the final match of our nine-game stretch. In the midst of this tough schedule, our "seven-game unbeaten run" is not bad at all. Of course, considering we created more scoring opportunities than our opponents in the previous match against FC Machida Zelvia, we would have liked to win, but in terms of attack, we've scored multiple goals in almost every game except for the Machida match, and more importantly, the number of attacks has increased, which I see as a positive. The only thing left is how we can perfect our final touches. I had a moment in the first half of the Machida match where the opposing goalkeeper parried the GK away in front of the goal, but looking back at it, the angle was a little weak. The fact that I was able to come up with that kick idea on the spur of the moment shows that I'm in good form, but even so, I think I could have scored if I had aimed a little further to the side, so I want to continue striving for quality in my final touches.

On the other hand, regarding defense, I feel we've conceded a few too many easy goals. I think the primary reason for this is that the team as a whole isn't defending effectively as an organization, including whether we're applying enough pressure from the front line and whether we're outplaying the opponent in certain situations. Also, even though we talk about organization, it's a fact that if each individual loses to the opponent in front of them, that organization can't be maintained. While organized defense is a prerequisite for top teams, ultimately, it's the individual ability to defend that strengthens the organization's defense, so I feel that each player needs to be conscious of and work on both the organization and the individual.
Furthermore, when we're winning, we shouldn't back down, both in our play and in our mindset. In the recent match against Pohang (ACL Elite), we conceded a goal while trying to protect our lead, and then we had to push forward again to score. But simply put, if we can score by pushing forward, it's better to play in the opponent's half. Even if that's the way to keep the opponent as far away from our goal as possible, I believe that not going into defensive mode, both mentally and physically, will lead to winning.

The same applies to the Cerezo Osaka match. Considering our current attacking coordination, and the fact that it's a home game, we're confident we can dominate to some extent, so the key is how we can take the initiative in attack. On the other hand, if we concede a loose goal while we have possession of the ball, it could end up shooting ourselves in the foot. The opponent has players like LUCAS FERNANDES who can score a goal, so the ideal scenario is to maintain an attacking stance while avoiding conceding, keeping the score 0-0 as much as possible to wear down their momentum, and then scoring a goal. And above all, we just want to win in front of a packed Panasonic Stadium Suita! That's all!
