Head Coach comments after the match
I had talked to the players about playing aggressive football at home, and I had been telling them that all week, and I think the players had that feeling today, but it didn't really translate into their play or the match. The supporters came to support us during the rainy season, so I wanted to play a more refreshing and sunny game, but I was sorry that we couldn't get the game going in that way.
I think every team goes through a period like this, and even if we try to do it mentally, our bodies don't keep up, and the ball doesn't move automatically to the whole team. After we scored the first goal from a set piece, we had several chances from counterattacks and passing plays, but of course, if we had scored those points, it's just a "what if" story, and things might be different. However, even in such a situation, we are able to play soccer in a way that moves the ball calmly and makes the opponent run in the opposite direction, but right now, we are not able to play that kind of soccer. Well, we just have to keep going, and we have to look forward and move forward. Of course, neither the players nor we think that a draw is enough, and we want to continue fighting at home to get three points, and we want to play even higher quality soccer, and instead of just thinking, "We got one point, so that's fine," we want to focus more on the content, the points, and the goals, and continue to play games.
We talked about that today as well, and we talked about fighting together, but we weren't able to produce any results. However, we still have two days between games, and our next game is away, but we would like to focus on both the content and the result and play a game that will further raise the level of the team.
In that sense, Doan played for the first 45 minutes today, but he started to touch the ball halfway through and was able to get into his own rhythm. I think that if he gets more and more used to the team, his strengths will come out even more, and we will continue to compete with each other within the team in various ways, and we will continue to work to improve and revitalize the team.
Urawa won today, and I believe they fought well enough to win the first stage. We will continue to fight without losing in the remaining two games, and towards the second stage.
Q: Other than Doan, the other midfielders such as Abe are not performing at their usual level, but will you be trying out different combinations in the second row?
A: Yes. I think it will be a process, but since the team there hasn't been one step more active this season, I would like to consider some minor changes there, including to LINS Lima De Brito' second row.
