Head Coach comments after the match
Q: "Please tell us what you have been doing to prepare for the match against Shonan, and why you decided to change some of the starters."
Head Coach Miyamoto
"Firstly, we tried various combinations to fill the gap left by Kurata's injury after watching practice and practice matches for two weeks, but we decided to start with the three players we had today, taking into account the characteristics of our opponents and the fact that we would have time to hold the ball. It's the same with Suganuma, and the fact that we'll be using more long balls was also a reason. I can't go into too much detail about what we specifically prepared, but we trained on things like going for the ball a little early in defence, and how to use a quick attack and a slow attack."
Q. "How do you feel about Onoe's growth in the year since he transferred from J2?"
Head Coach Miyamoto
"I think his speed and physique are improving. In terms of technique, I've always seen him as a skilled player since his days at Renofa, but I feel like he's getting better at figuring out when to use his skills. He's currently playing on the right wing, but I think he'd be good enough to play as a FW, as I saw in the last match. He's still only 26, so I want him to grow even more, and he's a player with a lot of mental hunger, so I want to help the whole team, including him, develop even more."
Q. "Usami scored two goals. What is your assessment of him?"
Head Coach Miyamoto
"He showed his finishing skills in practice and in match-style practice, and more than anything, I think he's got a better balance in various parts of his body. He's been practicing since the end of June, and compared to then he's become stronger, and in terms of defense he's going for the ball from the front, and I've seen him put his body on the ball when it's fifty-fifty and take it for himself, so I think he's gradually getting better. I think today's two goals will also give him a lot of confidence. I want him to do his best in the remaining four games, and we're always talking about scoring goals, so I'll continue to have high expectations."
Q. "It's been a while since Endo started in the starting lineup. What were your expectations against Shonan?"
Head Coach Miyamoto
"In the last match, we pushed back a little at home, and I felt that Endo's presence was important in moving the ball, and his wide field of vision and ideas for getting behind the opponent were needed today, so I brought him back into the starting lineup. We also saw strength in other areas of the defense, and I think everyone performed well, but I think he also showed some good things."
Q. "I felt that Ideguchi's movements were outstanding, but what do you think of him and what tasks did he have for this match?"
Head Coach Miyamoto
"Like Usami, Ideguchi has been getting better and better since he returned. His approach to the ball is sharp, and I think he has actually been stealing the ball more often. By turning on that switch, it makes it easier for the defensive line to make their next move, and it connects to the back pass and helps push the line up, so that's what I've been asking him to do in recent games. As for today's game, I've been telling him to run a little more behind the opponent's defensive line, and I think he's a player who can decide the game not only defensively but also offensively, so that's what I've been talking about."
