Head Coach comments after the match
Head Coach Katanozaka: "Thank you for your hard work. It was a derby, the last game of our nine-game series, and I'm really disappointed that we ended up with such a disappointing result. I'm really sorry that so many fans and supporters came to see us and were looking forward to it. We have accepted the various reasons for our loss and will make corrections, move forward and work with the players to win the game."
Q: "We started off really well, but it seemed like the momentum shifted to the other team around the time of the water break. Head Coach Katanozaka, what do you think was happening on the pitch?"
Head Coach Katanozaka: "As expected, we got off to a great start and were able to score the opening goal, but we started to show signs of fatigue, and we didn't press well, and we were often receiving or passing the ball around, and when we did steal the ball, we weren't able to get into the opposition's territory, so I think it went in Cerezo's favor. It was really good that we managed to finish the first half with zero goals and went into halftime, but in the second half, we weren't able to do what we wanted to do, so we brought in fresh players and made a comeback, and we did create some chances. In the past, there were games where we would have had to defend a little more, but regarding today's game, we brought in (MESHINO) Ryotaro, (Kurata) Aki, and (Sakamoto) Issai, and they came back and created some chances, which I think will be useful for the future, and I think all the players really need to change this situation, so we'll take on the challenge while carefully identifying what we did well and what we need to fix."
Q: "Halfway through the second half, we were unable to pick up any second balls. How did you feel about this, Head Coach Katanozaka?"
Head Coach: "In reality, we wanted to get the ball, not only for the second ball, but also for DAWHAN, (Saito) Mitsuki, (Kurata) Aki, (MESHINO) Ryotaro, and the players in the back, including the midfielders. Also, in the second half, when we were struggling, we were not able to aim for our attack against Cerezo, and we needed to see how much we could hold the ball. I think we need to fix that."
Q: "We started well and I think you had the intention of pressing from the front from the beginning. Gradually we started to play with a 5-back formation and spent more time receiving, which put us at a disadvantage. I don't think that was an intention to retreat, but was that because our pressing from the front didn't work?"
Head Coach, "Our press didn't work, and we couldn't work together well, and I didn't want to get into that situation, but the players also didn't seem to be working well, so I made it clear that we should have a 5-4 block, make it compact with a 5-4-1, and then steal the ball from there, and create a solid block to steal the ball again, so I thought it would be bad if we were to become disjointed, so I made that clear, and we ended up having a lot of time to hold the ball or receive it, so I want to be able to attack from the front, whether it's the first half or the second half."
Q: "It was a painful second goal, but even though the game had been going back and forth before that, we had some powerful attacks on the counter. As Head Coach Katanozaka said, we were able to create some shape by making substitutions. Although we didn't score, is that a positive factor?"
Head Coach Katanozaka: "Yes, (MESHINO) Ryota showed his strengths when he came in, and if he can gradually build up his skills in training from now on, I think he will become a valuable player and contribute more to the team. He showed some strengths, so we need to take advantage of that and work with not only (MESHINO) Ryota but also the other players to help them recover and grow, and I think it's really important to recover, maintain and build up our strength as much as possible."
Q: "Today, you started Suzuki in the starting line-up, and he had some chances to break through the defense and some post plays in the first half, but it seemed like he got tired a little too quickly. Could you tell us how you were planning to use Suzuki, and why you made the substitution at that time?"
Katanozaka: "Regarding the substitutions, I was wondering if he would last the full 90 minutes because he looked tired, so I was always thinking about the timing of the substitutions. And with (Suzuki) Head Coach, it was really a no-show today, and we weren't able to get him in training. In that situation, I think that (Suzuki) Musashi was able to make runs behind the defense and create openings, as the players understood his characteristics to a certain extent while using him in official matches. If we continue to try and improve our condition, I think we will be able to play for the full 90 minutes, and I think that will lead to goals. First of all, we will take the time during this break to focus on the issues that came up during the nine consecutive matches and make corrections as our own issues, so that we can really erase the disappointment of this loss, and we will look forward firmly, combining our shared tactics with these new players."
