Head Coach comments after the match
Head Coach Poyatos said, "First of all, I would like to give full credit to the players' attitude. Given that we had only 2nd year of junior high school days between the Nam Dinh match and this match, I think each and every player put in a lot of effort and prepared well. Regarding the game itself, we struggled to get going early on and allowed the opposition to create a lot of chances. However, I think we were able to gain control of the game more after the 10-minute mark. As the first half drew to a close, we were able to move the ball well in the second half, and we knew they were going to tire, so I'm glad we were able to finish the game off. However, I think we could have ended the game if we'd been able to score earlier, and that would have been good. After we scored the first goal, Nagoya also had some strong individual abilities and were pressing in front of our goal, but I'm glad we were able to score another goal at the end and close out the game."
Q: "Even with a tough schedule with only 2nd year of junior high school, you played this match with almost no changes to the lineup from ACL2. What was your intention behind that?"
Head Coach Poyatos said, "Many of our players had been well prepared up to this point, and I had the impression that they had gotten into the groove of playing these kinds of matches after the ACL 2 matches, so I chose players like Rin MITO, thinking they would have no problems in these consecutive matches and would be able to find a good rhythm. They did show signs of fatigue in the second half, but I trusted them to perform well."
Q: "The last time you played against Nagoya at Panasonic Stadium Suita, Nagoya played defensively, but this time they came at you aggressively from the front. How did you perceive the difference in Nagoya's fighting style and respond to it?"
Head Coach Poyatos said, "Football is like a 'short blanket,' and if you hide your head, your legs will come out. If you hide your legs, your head will come out. I believe there are good and bad things about it. In analyzing the Cerezo and Kashima games, I could predict that Nagoya would come at us from the front. We wanted to target the space beside the defensive midfielders, and the players understood that and were able to make effective use of it, allowing us to advance while avoiding the opponents' pressure and maintain control of the game."
