Pre-match comments for the Kyoto match (Head Coach Myojin, Fukuoka, and Usami)
Head Coach Tomokazu MYOJIN : "Kyoto has a new Head Coach, but they are still able to press high and are strong in one-on-one situations, so I don't get the impression that their tactics have changed drastically. However, I think their defense is well organized, so it will be important how we play in the opponent's half. It will probably be an intense match, so first of all, we need to fight hard in areas where Kyoto is strong, such as duels and one-on-one situations. On top of that, how we start the match and how we play calmly will also be key. We are in very good form as we were able to get three points for the first time in a while, and we were able to get one point by coming from behind in the match against Shimizu two rounds ago, and then we were able to get three points in the away match against Fukuoka last round, so we are very eager to win against Kyoto at home and continue our winning streak."
DF2 Shota FUKUOKA : "I think Kyoto's aggressiveness hasn't changed, and in the last match against Kashima we managed to draw by equalizing in added time, so it will be important not to let them gain momentum. Long counter-attacks and short counter-attacks are their strengths, so we want to manage the situation carefully, including risk management, while communicating well with each other. It's been a while since we've played at home, and there's a certain atmosphere that only a home team can create, so we have to respond to that support. It's my 31st birthday on the day of the match, so ideally I'd like to aim for a birthday goal, but more than that, I want to give my all for the team's victory and keep winning."
FW7 Takashi USAMI: "Just like in the previous match against Fukuoka, we have to win this match against Kyoto. Kyoto has a new Head Coach, but I get the impression that their intensity, forward power, and the strength of each individual player haven't changed that much. However, I think they are more conscious of winning the ball back quickly than when the previous Head Coach, Cho, was in charge. Personally, I'm confident that I can change the game with a single pass or shot, like the one I made to Ryoya (Yamashita) the other day, or the goal. I want to create as many of those kinds of situations as possible, plus increase the time we can keep possession of the ball, create an attacking rhythm, and improve the quality of each play so that the team can move smoothly."
