[About the Sign Language Shirt Initiative]
GAMBA OSAKA has been carrying out various initiatives under the "SDGsmile" initiative to help local residents achieve better lives, including visiting Naniwa Juvenile Detention Center, which has been ongoing since 2009, and hosting the Scanbio Cup, a futsal exchange tournament for people with mental disabilities. This time, the team will be participating in the Sign Language Shirt Project as an initiative that will lead to support for people with hearing impairments in their hometown area.

In deaf sports, in which people with hearing impairments participate, visual information is used instead of whistles or starter pistols. In track and field, soccer, and rugby, referees use flags to signal to athletes who cannot rely on sound. The sign language shirts we are releasing this time have a design based on overlapping flags. Flags, which are also used to cheer on sports, are also a tool to unite people's feelings, and this time, under the theme of "Wave the flag of your heart," we have created an image of waving flags and liberating hearts.

Expressing slogans in sign language
GAMBA is written on the chest in both finger spelling and the alphabet. At the top of the back, the club slogan "BE THE HEAT, BE THE HEART" - "Become a blue flame, create enthusiasm, and be the center" - is expressed in sign language for "blue flame" and "enthusiasm." At the bottom of the back is the sign for "Let's try it," which is the Japanese translation of Hummel's tagline, LET'S PLAY.
