7/7 (Mon) TEAM AS ONE Reconstruction Support Activities GAMBA OSAKA"Friendship Soccer Class" Implementation Report
On Monday, July 7th, we visited Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, to support the recovery efforts following the Noto Peninsula Earthquake of 2024, and held a "Friendship Soccer" event.
The visit was funded by the "TEAM AS ONE donation" that fans and supporters entrusted to us in hopes of helping with the recovery of the disaster-stricken areas. Approximately 70 students (2nd and 3rd year students) from Midorigaoka Junior High School in Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, as well as GAMBA OSAKA Osaka players Nakatani (born in Suzu City), Minamino, Nawada, and Abe, and GAMBA OSAKA academy coach Coach Tani, participated.
Coach Tani moderated the interactive soccer event, which began with demonstrations by current players, such as passing the ball to the goal, then moved on to a GK experience, where the students could feel the players' shots, a dribbling relay in which all students took part, and a mini-game, during which the cheer song "Midorichu Fight~♪" was played, giving the students a lot of fun.
At the end of the event, GAMBA OSAKA presented the following gifts: a flag signed by the players, an official match ball signed by the players, and a MOFLEM clear file folder.
After the friendly soccer game, the players split up into classrooms and spent lunch with the students, during which they talked about various things, including what they wanted to tell the students and what happened at the time of the earthquake.
Finally, all the students from each grade and the players took a commemorative photo in front of the team bus.
The MOFLEM stuffed toys were also very popular.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone at Suzu Municipal Midorigaoka Junior High School in Ishikawa Prefecture and the Ishikawa Prefecture Football Association who cooperated with this activity. We pray for a speedy recovery so that everyone in the disaster-stricken areas can spend their days in safety and health.
