Head Coach comments after the match
We were able to play in such a good atmosphere, and I'm really grateful to the Reds and Gamba fans who came to Saitama Stadium and created an atmosphere that motivated the players. Today, it's all about the result, so I think the Reds played a better game than us. This season, we have one win and one loss, so we'd like to prepare well so that we can win the next time we play against them.
Q: There were fewer attacks, but what do you think is the reason for this?
A: The Reds' defense was very good, and our two strikers had a hard time establishing a base.
Q: I think you used Ogura as a right-back due to various circumstances, but could you tell us again why you chose him and what you think of him as a player?
A: The reason I chose him is because there was no other option. And then, at the end, around the 75th minute, he said that he had cramps in his leg, but I couldn't replace him. I told him to keep a good balance and do his best, even though he didn't need to join the attack. He wasn't completely cramped, so he said he'd do his best, and I think he did a good job until he left the pitch.
Q: In the first half, when the Reds had the ball, Gamba was able to double-team them and take good care of them, but in the second half, from around the 80th minute, they were unable to contain the opponents' attacks on the sides and started to bring the ball to the middle more often. Is that because they were losing stamina and legs, or is it more of a tactical factor, as Anderson PATRIC Aguiar Oliveira is no longer there and they have lost their forward momentum?
A Today, Anderson PATRIC Aguiar Oliveira played for about 70 minutes, but I didn't feel any forward momentum from watching from the bench. I don't think it's because he was gone. The kickoff was at 2 o'clock, the temperature on the pitch was 28 degrees Celsius before the game, and it was the second round of consecutive games with two days in between. I think there is a big difference between two days and three days in between, and of course there was fatigue from the consecutive games. Fujiharu was on the field the whole time and it was difficult to replace him, so I think he did a really good job, and I think Ogura played well in an unfamiliar position. I think it's natural for his legs to drop at that time, and I think it can be said that the Reds conserved Sekine and exploited that well.
Q: It seemed like a physically tough situation in the first half, even while watching the game. Given that, you put pressure on the opposing GK from quite early on in the first half, but it's natural that you couldn't keep it up for long. What was your aim?
A: The players don't know how to play until the match starts, and when they play against the Reds, they don't say anything about whether they're going to go forward or pull back from the beginning, so I think the players went with the atmosphere of the match and decided to push forward today. However, they didn't work together very well, so at halftime we were vaguely saying things like, ``Let's make a difference if we're going to go, and if we're not going to go, we'll make a block.'' I think the players' intention this time was that Endo and Konno would push forward.
