Head Coach comments after the match
First of all, I would like to thank the supporters for their warm support after the game. I think the players fought to get the points and the victory until the very end, but I think it was Frontale who really came in with a strong determination to win today's game from the start and took control of the game. In the first half, we managed to score from a set play, but we conceded a goal right at the end of the game, at a time when we really shouldn't have conceded one, and when we really needed to, and I think that was the main reason why today's game was played at such a fast pace.
Normally, the players should have been aware of the schedule and should have gone in firmly and made the game a bit more closed, but of course Frontale didn't want to let that happen, so the Gamba players went in with a little less concentration. However, I thought it was impressive how the players worked hard in the second half to catch up to 3-3 when the score was 1-3, and how they continued to show a determination to score until the very end, and I think it was a great chance to close the gap on the top teams, but we couldn't do it this time, and although there are only four games left, we want to fight until the very end of this season without giving up.
Q: You mentioned that you were lacking in concentration. Do you think the biggest influence was due to factors such as the schedule or physical condition?
A: I said that I won't use that as an excuse. Even in the recent game against Guangzhou Evergrande, we scored the opening goal, but after that we had a hard time doing things ourselves. That was partly because of the heat, but I think we just didn't have the power to attack the opponent from the start.
Q: In the first half, it seemed like Endo's role was slightly switched between offense and defense. What did you ask of Endo?
A: Because we were playing in a diamond-shaped midfield, I told Yat to go and steal the ball from a high position, and not only Endo, but the two players up front, and the three of them, put a lot of pressure on Oshima, Nakamura, and the three backs. However, Anderson PATRIC Aguiar Oliveira and Takashi, especially in the first half, were not doing well, and I think they should have challenged for the ball more, but they just took their positions and didn't go and steal the ball, so I think the pressure wasn't put on the last line. In the second half, they tried to steal the ball and got a foul, but we knew that Frontale would move the ball in that way if we didn't go that hard from the start, so I think that's what led to us conceding some goals.

Q: I would like to ask a question that connects the Head Coach's statement that he was aiming for a close development, which was the ideal, the expression of the power of attacking the opponent, and the statement that he would suppress Frontale's movements. I think the Head Coach's theme was how to suppress Frontale's movements and rhythm, but as I watched, Anderson PATRIC Aguiar Oliveira and Usami were slacking. If a hole appears there, the back cannot be defended. When playing against a team like Frontale, it is very important to suppress their rhythm, and as the Head Coach said, we tried to do that, but it did not work. Could you please comment on that?
A: When I do it, I do it (laughs). I couldn't do it today. Before the game, I told them that I would replace them immediately if they slacked off, and in that situation, I said I would try my best, but in the end I couldn't do it. I spoke to them kindly at halftime, and they started to go a lot harder in the second half, but I think that if they don't go that hard from the first half, there will be a strain on the back.
It's hard to use them at the same time, especially in a diamond formation, but sometimes they try really hard in big games, so I thought they'd do well today, so I used them. I think there's still a lot to be done in that area. But Anderson PATRIC Aguiar Oliveira scored two points. I'm not making excuses because he scored points, but I think he showed a little bit of determination in the second half. As for Takashi, I felt he still has a lot to learn. If he can show his presence in those tough games, I think he'll be the real deal.
Q: After conceding five goals today, how do you plan to rebuild the team for the remaining four games?
A: Nothing has changed. I don't intend to change my approach just because we conceded a goal, and I want to get myself in good condition and get ready again.
