Head Coach comments after the match
Q: "I think the first minute of the game made the match a little difficult, but what were your plans for the start of the match and your defensive plan?"
Head Coach Miyamoto: "I said this in the meeting and just before the match, but we wanted to start with a strong defense and make sure to make strong contact, but I can't accept the first goal we conceded, and it was something we shouldn't have conceded."
Q: "It seemed like you were going along with the opponent's high line and high pressure, and you were really clashing with them, and you were exhausted in the second half, which led to the final goal we conceded, but was your game plan, or were you thinking of fighting them rather than trying to eliminate their strengths?"
Head Coach: "What do you think is the strength of your opponent?"
Q: For example, things like passing the ball around, or coming back to take it back immediately after it's been stolen.
Head Coach: "While acknowledging the strengths of our opponents, we wanted to keep possession of the ball, and while we had a plan to attack quickly after stealing it, we also had scenes where we kept our line as high as possible and stole the ball in the opponent's midfield, and I think there were many scenes like that. Of course, we were exhausted at times, but I think it was a game where either outcome was possible, but I do have the impression that it's difficult to win after conceding three goals."
Q: As the Head Coach said, it's difficult to concede three goals, but we've been conceding goals since the start of the season, and I think the lineup hasn't changed since last year except for Young-Gwon. What do you think is the difference between the few goals we conceded last year when we were doing well and now? Also, I think the goals we're conceding aren't just due to the back line, but also due to the lack of filtering in the midfield and the condition of Konno. What are your thoughts on that, Head Coach?
Head Coach: "To answer the second question, I think we need a stronger defensive formation, with a GK in the front line, and more strength and speed in our challenge and cover in specific situations. Comparing it to last year, the end of the season and the start of the season, I don't think it's possible to compare it with other teams with their power, but we conceded goals early on, at Shimizu we conceded the first goal, and at Marinos we conceded one in about the third minute. I think there is still room for improvement as a team in terms of how we start the game and the rhythm of the game. I think that this is what is leading to us conceding goals, or rather, creating a lot of dangerous situations, and when I look at the goal we conceded from a free kick immediately after the score was 1-1 after we scored, I think it's the rhythm of the game that is the issue."
Q: "Regarding the power of the two-top, the attacking power was there today, but when Gamba is in good form, Konno takes the ball and switches it on, or I think there are a lot of half-counter plays, but the reason we haven't seen that happen is partly because Konno's condition hasn't improved yet."
Head Coach: "I think we were wary of the opponent's quick attacks after stealing the ball, but I didn't get the impression that we weren't able to smoothly transition to attacking after that filter was applied. If anything, I think we were losing the ball a little more often after stealing it."
Q: "After the score became 2-2, I imagine you had a hard time deciding which substitutions to make. Could you tell us what you had in mind when making those substitutions?"
Miyamoto, the Head Coach, said, "After the score became 2-2, the opposing players came to score with power, and there was a space in the middle of the midfield in the defense, so I used Yajima to tighten that up a bit. As for the right side, I could see that Jae-suk was getting a bit worn out, and a player came in there, so I thought I would take care of that and attack. As for Watanabe, I was expecting him to have the ability to score, but I also think he will be involved in set plays, and I saw that Kurata was a little unable to return, so I used him as the third substitute."
Q: "You made a lot of mistakes in the first half, but you were also involved in a lot of the final moments. Was your stamina depletion on the defensive side a priority?"
Head Coach: "It's a matter of which we should choose. Of course, there were some effective passes when we went forward, and Endo made some decisions on his own, such as putting pressure forward a little while in a more forward position, or taking a position like a second striker after receiving the ball, and I think there were many effective plays. However, to repeat what I said earlier, it's a matter of how we balance the game."
