Head Coach comments after the match
Q: "It was a very intense match, and if we had taken the lead by one point, it would have been a great development, but we didn't score any points, we came close but still didn't score. What do you think about today's match?"
Head Coach, "The opponents were also using more players to defend in front of the goal, so we needed to be more creative in breaking down the defense at the end and show more quality."
Q: Was the substitution of Takae for Konno to change the offense and get the final point?
Head Coach Miyamoto: "That period was a bit slow, especially in the midfield. So I made the substitution, thinking about picking up loose balls, Takae's energy when we went on the offensive, getting in front of the goal, and taking mid-range shots. His own performances have been good recently, so I used him because I think the team needs that kind of momentum."
Q: "Today, we moved Miura to the center in terms of the defensive line positioning. What did you think of that?"
Head Coach: "We were playing with four players from Levain, and we were not only focused on balance and defense, but also on attacking, and we confirmed with the team and players that we are an attacking team, and we played the game with that in mind, but today, the SB has to go, and by attacking, we can add depth, rather than just defense, and I think we were able to do that, and I think it would be good if we could go a little deeper from there."
Of course, with Miura on the right, we had some success in the games against Kawasaki and Levain Matsumoto, but we want to show once again that we are an attacking team.
Q: Today, with ADEMILSON Braga Bispo Junior and Uijo as the two strikers, Uijo dropped back and got involved with the ball a lot, and ADEMILSON Braga Bispo Junior was up front a lot, but was that because ADEMILSON Braga Bispo Junior was tired from Levain and that was taken into consideration, or was there any instruction from the Head Coach with Urawa in mind? And another point is that Fujiharu was substituted due to injury, and I think that this was a big factor in the fact that the left wing with Kurata and Fujiharu, who had been functioning well, was not able to get involved in the attack in the second half. What are your thoughts on this, Head Coach?
Miyamoto: "Regarding the attacking part on the left side, I think that breaking down the defense is one of our strengths when we have a third player, Endo, or ADEMILSON Braga Bispo Junior nearby, so the absence of Fujiharu was a big minus. I also think that Jae-suk and Yonekura did their jobs well. As for Ui-jo, are you talking about the first half? Until the middle of the first half, Ui-jo also wanted the ball, and I think he came down on his own judgment. I told him to be patient from the middle of the first half."
Q: "Today you used Endo and Konno as a double defensive midfielder. What was your aim in doing so, and how did you feel about the way the match unfolded?"
Miyamoto: "Konno's ankle is still not 100% this season, and we haven't been able to get a "can play" answer from him after talking about various things, so we've been using Taka and Yajima this season, but Konno showed a solid performance for the last 90 minutes at Levain last time, and there were no problems with his condition, so I paired him with Endo today. I used them against the Reds, hoping that they could control the midfield with their combination and experience. I think there were some parts where they worked well, and of course there were times in the second half when they were on the defensive as the opponents came out a little more aggressive, but that position is not something that just started, and I think it's something that Gamba has been dealing with for the past few years, so of course, if they are in perfect condition and performing well, I would like to use them, but I think we have to take various things into consideration as well."
