Head Coach comments after the match
Head Coach Poyatos: "I was reminded once again that football is truly wonderful, and I think Gamba played a really good game. Of course, it was unfortunate that we lost points, but I think we played a really good game. We were able to create goal-scoring opportunities while in possession of the ball, and I think it's difficult to break down Tosu's GK, who is one of the best in the J-League. However, the fact that we saw the opposing GK make many saves is proof that we were able to create many chances. We conceded a goal, and as the opponents were showing signs of fatigue, we needed to react as a team. Yamami performed well today and showed his strength, so I'm happy that we were able to play our own style of football, but I also feel regretful that we lost points."
Q: "I think we were able to play our own style of football, especially in the first half. What do you think was the reason for this, Head Coach Poyatos?"
Head Coach Poyatos: "I think the team is really in a good moment right now, and one of the good reasons is that as a team we are understanding why we want to play more and more each day, and I think the relationships between the players are also getting better. I think the fact that we have a clearer idea of what we need to do is also a good factor. Also, I think it's important to have the decisiveness to finish off the good momentum in the first half like that, and I think it would have been better if we had scored multiple goals in the first half and ended the game, but in soccer, one chance like that can really lead to conceding a goal, but I think we're in a really good momentum now."
Q: "I believe that Usami was deployed as a lone striker midway through the game. What was the aim of that and how did Head Coach Poyatos feel about it?"
Head Coach Poyatos: "At that moment, we were pushing the opponent back, so I brought on (Usami) Takashi. He's good at getting the ball, so I wanted to create a 2-on-1 situation when the opponent came out and he received the ball, and I was hoping for a combination in that 2-on-1 situation. I think we had a few good chances of breaking through, two or three times, but Tosu responded well after that, so I dropped Takashi to the interior position and brought on (Suzuki) Musashi."
Q: "It's been more than three months since Yamami's last appearance. Why did you decide to bring him in at that time?"
Head Coach Poyatos: "As I always say, he is a player with real talent, so I trusted him. However, there have been changes from Gamba in what we have been doing as a team since the beginning of the season, and there were areas where he had to adapt, and there were areas where he was lacking in order to compete. He has a really great shooting ability, but there was something he was lacking in order to compete, but he always puts in the effort, and I saw that myself, and that trust led me to select him."
