Head Coach comments after the match
Head Coach Poyatos: "I think it was a very tense game. Against a team like Urawa, it was a game where we had to stay focused at all times. As expected, when we were tied at 1-1, we were unlucky, or maybe we didn't play well and conceded the equalizer just when we were in good form, and I think that's when the players' mentality dropped a little. We started the second half well, and the other team was sent off, so we were able to keep the momentum going, but we couldn't get the switch going, and we ended up scoring a goal. From there, we tried to catch up by making substitutions and changing our positioning, but they scored another goal, and it was an impression that the momentum was firmly in their favor."
Q: "I think you stepped up your offensive efforts after the opponent lost one man, but in the end you couldn't score. Even though you had the ball, it seemed like you weren't able to show the opponent any fear. What do you think you could have done differently?"
Head Coach Poyatos: "It comes down to organization, but I think it's important to be patient and attack when the game develops like this. We needed to understand where the spaces were, and the players were well organized, but I wish we could have been more patient and attacked the spaces that were open. After that, each and every player needs to prove their quality, strength, one-on-one play, and shooting. I really think Urawa's defensive line was very good, and I think it's important to learn from these things and improve from here for the future so that we can move forward every day. I had the impression that Urawa was struggling by dropping back, so I'm disappointed that we couldn't break through there."
Q: First of all, why was Ravi not in the squad today? And I thought there must have been some big difference in Urawa scoring two goals even with 10 men. What difference did you feel was the biggest, Head Coach Poyatos?
Head Coach Poyatos: "First of all, the first thing is that Israel has a national Jewish holiday called Yom Kippur, which is a very important day for Judaism, so I talked with the club and decided that, in accordance with the Jewish customs, no cars are on the roads in Israel today and all activities are suspended, so out of respect for Neta's Jewish beliefs, he will not play in the match today. The second thing is that there is no space for opponents who sink back, whereas we have a lot of space behind us. The switch there was quick, and the really big difference between the opponent was their accuracy. Their crossing was also great, and the way the players came in there was also great, and the way they finished it was also great. I think that the difference between the opponents was their accuracy. Even with 10 men, they can cause damage in this way. With respect, I think the opponent's Head Coach is a Head Coach who plays good defense and then switches using his talent, and is good at counterattacks. "
Q: "I think breaking through Urawa's solid defense was a theme today, but at the same time, it's tough when you concede goals. The first goal was conceded even though two CBs were on the pitch, and the second goal was also criticized for Fukuoka's inability to stop it. Of course, I don't think it's just the CB's problem, and Fukuoka and Sato are good at moving the ball in attack, but I think they've been a little weak in closing in recently. What do you think about this problem, Head Coach Poyatos?"
Head Coach Poyatos: "I personally try not to talk about personal matters. I personally think that the two players who didn't get many opportunities to play last year are doing a good job against Urawa's attacks. I especially think that the young Sato is doing a good job every day. This is not just about focusing on the mistakes, but I think it's a mistake by all the players and the whole team. The reason is that the focus is only on the goals conceded, whether we were able to put in enough pressure from the front line, or whether we were able to take responsibility and try to sink the ball when we had a chance to score, but I don't think that's the case. This is all the Head Coach of the whole team. I'll say it again, they didn't get many opportunities to play until last year, but I just want to encourage their growth every day at this level. That's all I want to do. That's why I want to develop my players with that attitude and walk with them until the very last career as a manager.
