Head Coach comments after the match
Q: "The football seemed to have a completely different look in the first and second halves. In your interview with DAZN earlier, you said that you told the players that they needed to increase their intensity. What kind of adjustments did you make at halftime?"
Head Coach Jens Vissing said, "I think we were able to stay focused and get off to a good start. We took the lead and felt like we were in control, but of course we conceded two goals so quickly. The first goal, a free kick, was unlucky, but the second goal was a result of the opponent's high pressure in front, which we expected. When we lost the ball in that way, they were able to exploit our strengths and score the second goal. It also seemed like we were lacking in intensity, so we went into halftime trailing 1-2 and told them to believe in themselves. I told them that we needed to challenge Nagasaki or we wouldn't get the results we were looking for. We dominated the game at home, used our physical strength, created many chances, and had some good chances to score. We tied the game, scored the third goal, and took the win in the 90th minute, securing the three points."
Q: "You've scored three goals, the most since you took over as Head Coach, and are now in first place in the Western Conference. What impact do you think this will have on the ACL2 season, which is 2nd year of junior high school days away?"
Head Coach JENS WISSING : "It's great that we're heading to Thailand with the best of intentions. We need to score when we can, and I want to create chances and score goals, and I think the players gave it their all in today's match. With that in mind, I think it's great that we can win, get three points, go into the first half of the season in first place, and head into the second round of the ACL."
Q: "Handa is positioned on the left wing, and I think he's a reliable player who can play both left and right. What's your assessment?"
Head Coach JENS WISSING said, "Handa has been playing well on the wing for a long time, and we expected Nagasaki to play with a high level of intensity overall, so we placed him on the left, hoping that his physical strength and speed would pose a challenge to the opponent. At the start of the team, he didn't understand the ideas the team was trying to achieve as well as he does now, so we spoke with him and sought to gain a deeper understanding. His strengths are his physical strengths, speed, and strength, and I'm very pleased with the growth he's shown to date."
Q: Regarding the intensity of play, you said that the first half was a little lacking, and that you were able to play more in the second half as instructed at halftime. How do you feel about the level of penetration into the team after five games?
Head Coach Jens Vissing: "I'm satisfied with where we've been so far. Of course, there's no such thing as perfection in football. I think the players are doing a good job of playing the dominant style of football we're looking for, and of taking the ball forward as soon as we lose it. When we're attacking in the opponent's penalty box, how we mark and care for the remaining opponent players is also a very important factor. I'm also looking for them to be strong in the ball area and be able to steal the ball. The next thing I want to work on is creating so many chances but not being able to convert them, which is making things difficult for us. So I think we can do even better at finishing off chances when we do create them, and with a tough schedule, the players are embodying the kind of football we're trying to play. There's still room for improvement, so it's difficult to quantify our current performance, but we're a team with potential, so we'll keep going and see how we can grow from here."
