Head Coach comments after the match
Head Coach Myojin: "We went into the match with the strong desire to somehow secure three points in a packed home stadium. The result was very disappointing, but I don't think we should be discouraged by the players' performance and content. After the match, I told the players that it's important to continue this fight. From the first half, we were able to compete well in the defensive aspects that we aimed for, including dealing with the opponent's long balls, and win the second balls. From there, I think we were able to create our own patterns up to getting the ball close to the opponent's goal. However, we just couldn't score the final goal, and the match continued at 0-0. In the end, I feel that Kobe's quality and a momentary lapse in concentration were exploited. In the second half, the game gradually opened up, but we were able to create chances from counterattacks while still playing the defensive game we aimed for. As I said earlier, we must not be discouraged by this result, but rather use it to move forward to the next match. We have another official match in 2nd year of junior high school days, so we want to regroup properly and head into the next game."
Q: Please explain your intentions and evaluation of starting Fujiwara.
Head Coach Myojin: "Since he had only recently joined the team, I was a little hesitant about using him. However, after seeing him play in Niigata and in practice, I felt that he would quickly fit into the team because he has strong fundamental skills and a solid understanding of individual tactics. I think he performed even better than I expected, both offensively and defensively. I am very satisfied with his play."
Q" "I think we were able to continue the good aspects of ACLElite in today's match and create some good opportunities against Kobe. It was a match that could have gone either way, but how do you now see the difference that ultimately came down to between you and Kobe?"
Head Coach Myojin: "I think Kobe had the ability to exploit small gaps and finish strong in the end. However, I believe we were at least on par with them, or even played our own style of football, including what we did today. Of course, finishing strong comes down to the front of both goals. We need to further increase the number and precision of our chances, and I think that continuing to build on that is what the team needs right now."
Q" "By starting Tsuchida, the offense seemed to gain more power, including his characteristic movement to receive the ball. Could you tell us if there was anything in particular you were looking for in him when you decided to use him?"
Head Coach Myojin: "One of Tsuchida's characteristics is his movement into the penalty area. In that sense, I think it makes it easier for the players delivering crosses to make the passes easier to deliver and the target is clearer. Of course, as a team, we also want the players in the middle to move into the penalty area and make good runs in response to crosses. I have the impression that the number of times he's getting into the penalty area has increased, taking all of that into consideration."
Q" "The J1 League season is currently on hiatus. Looking back on the matches so far, how do you feel about the team's performance? Also, with many new players joining the team, how do you plan to integrate them into the team going forward?"
Head Coach Myojin: "The league season will be suspended for now, and we understand that the current situation is difficult, as it's not the result or points we wanted. However, rather than using this break to our advantage, we need to cherish each and every match. First and foremost, we want to ensure the players recover properly, including mentally, and prepare for the next official match and the resumption of the league season. As professionals, we must accept that we haven't achieved the results we want. However, instead of being discouraged, we want to thoroughly analyze what kind of football we are playing and how well we are executing our style of football in order to achieve those results. And as a team, we want to move forward and work towards the next match and the resumption of the league season."
