Head Coach comments after the match
Head Coach, "First of all, we went into today's match with the goal of getting three points and making sure we stay in the league, so I think it was good that we were able to achieve that goal, or rather, that we ended up with three points. Of course, I think that the things we've been working on since the end of July started to come out little by little, which led to this result, but looking back at the first half, I think the opponents started off better and created many crises, and we were able to show some good counterattacks from time to time, but I felt that the first half was a little lacking. However, in the second half, we entered the match with a clearer idea of how to move the ball and what our defensive aims were, and we started to move higher on the sides and made more crosses, which led to goals. We've been able to change in a good way from the first half to the second half, which has been a recent trend, so even if the flow wasn't so good in the first half, I think everyone was in agreement that the second half was the key. After we were 1-0 down, we were in a bit of a pinch and the opponents created some chances, but we all defended well, and I think that was the match that showed on the pitch that we were going to win this game."
Q: Can you honestly tell us how you felt about deciding to stay?
Head Coach Miyamoto: "I feel relieved, or rather, I was confident from the beginning of this winning streak, and from the middle of it, I thought that by improving our daily lives, we could get closer to staying in the league, and since I took on the job, this has taken shape, so I think it was a good job with everyone working together, and I think we fulfilled the role we were given."
Q: Today, Endo-san played his 600th game in the J1 League. As Head Coach Miyamoto, you played alongside Endo-san during your active career. What are your thoughts on Endo-san still playing at such an age?
Head Coach: "As I've gotten older and met various Head Coach, I think I've evolved my game and gotten to where I am now. I think the number 600 games is quite big, and I don't think there will be another player who can achieve that Appearance record in the future. I think that's because I've taken good care of my body, and I think a big part of that is that I've never really had any injuries."
Regarding today's match, I think that my level in terms of moving the ball is higher than anyone else on the pitch, and although I am at an age where various conditions are becoming more difficult, I want as many fans as possible to see me play for as long as possible.
Q: "The team's condition has improved with the winning streak and the decision to stay in the league. I think Konno's return has also played a part, but I think HWANG Ui Jo has led the team with his competitive spirit. Is his competitive spirit reassuring for you as a Head Coach?"
Head Coach: "Of course, the focus is on scoring, but I think we've also seen improvements in other areas, such as keeping the ball, defending, and combining with teammates, which has ultimately led to scoring. Plus, I think the confidence he gained as an individual at the Asian Games is also a factor."
I think there are certainly moments in each match when he awakens, and he showed that in today's match, so he is a very reliable player. However, I don't want him to end up at this level, so there is more he can do. For example, today, based on the reflections from the previous match, we trained to improve his heading contests, and the results were apparent in today's match, so I think he is very quick to absorb, so from now on he will need to be able to shoot with his left foot, or shoot from a dribble when his right foot is cut off, and I think he is still at an age where he can improve in those areas, so I would like him to become a FW with a higher level.
