Head Coach comments after the match
Head Coach: "We had a very frustrating loss in the previous match, so I was wondering how the players would react, but I think they entered the match better than I expected. They created some tight spots early on, but apart from that, I think our weak defense on the ball was the cause of our conceded goals in the previous match, so they showed the strength of their first defense and we were able to get going in the first half. However, I think there is room for improvement in the area where we allowed the ball into the vital area."
I don't think we were on the defensive in the second half after we scored the goal, but we had some time to go on the defensive as the opponent was attacking us well. However, we were able to hold off well by changing players,
As a team, we need to work hard to improve on the areas where we were overtaken by individual skills.
Even though we were tied, the players showed a determination to fight again, which was not seen in the previous game, and I think that led to ADEMILSON Braga Bispo Junior's goal.
It was a victory that we all achieved together, so I think all our hard work really paid off, and I wanted to deliver the victory to everyone and to our supporters, so I think today was a really good win.
However, we have only won one game so we need to work hard for the next one.
Q: "In preparation for today's game, was there anything you asked your players to do offensively?"
Head Coach: "In terms of attack, Kazumi's inclusion allows us to create a strong starting point up front. We were able to set up attacks by taking advantage of his combination with ADEMILSON Braga Bispo Junior, and we also gave him the opportunity to put in a cross. We also talked about how quickly we could switch positions after stealing the ball, and how the opposing fullbacks were attacking, so we talked about how we could aim for the space behind them."
Q: "Since you became the Head Coach, Kazumi has always been on the bench, but today you selected him as a starter. What is your assessment of him? And I think the final goal was scored by Takae, who then passed it to ADEMILSON Braga Bispo Junior. What do you think of the performance of the three players you have used patiently in J3 in J1?"
Head Coach Miyamoto: "First of all, I've been watching Kazumi in J3 matches and the top team's red-white games since early spring, and I felt that he could do well against J1 players. I was hoping that there would be an opportunity for him to play in the three previous matches, but this time, with Ui-jo out, I wanted FC Tokyo to be a physically strong player who would be able to hold the ball and work devotedly for the team as a first defender, so I sent him into the match with the hope that he would grab the opportunity.
I think he was pretty calm, and there were some scenes where he came close to scoring, so I'm looking forward to seeing more of him in the future. As for Takae, he's good at running, so I wanted him to play a defensive role, and although he came on as a substitute in a difficult one-on-one situation, I think that play was key. As for Taka, I think he needs to do more, and not just on defense, but on the offensive side, he put in a wedge at the end, but I'd like to see more frequency and quality in those areas, and more balls that drop into space rather than just flat passes.
Q: "Could you please tell us what your aim was in placing Miura as a right-back?"
Head Coach Miyamoto: "Since one of FC Tokyo's offensive features is counter attacks, I brought in Suganuma to aim for a little more stability on the defensive side. I told him that there was no need to go out on the offensive as often, but with Fujimoto playing in the middle, I think we were able to go a little forward a lot. We had shown some good crossing balls in practice, but this performance even exceeded that."
As I said at the beginning, I would like to be able to flexibly change my strategy depending on the personality of my opponent.
However, I think we will need to continue making adjustments like this as we continue to build up our core values.
