Head Coach comments after the match
Head Coach Miyamoto: "We were playing against the Reds, who are in good form, and we've been on a winning streak, so we went into the match thinking that playing against such an opponent would test our strength. In the first half, we were able to achieve some of the goals we were aiming for, but the opponents started well and our defense was a little sloppy, so we continued to be a little slow to react, but Onoe's great shot brought the game to our side in one go. In the second half, we went in with the intention of playing a little better defensively, but we need to reflect on the fact that we were beaten in the first five minutes. However, we were able to switch back on from there and everyone was closing in on the opponent's goal, which was something we'd tried a lot in practice to do, moving the ball at a good distance and closing in on the opponent's goal, so that was very good. I think it was good after the 1-1 score. I think Ui-jo's goal was a really great goal, and I think we used our individual strength to get the three points. As for how we closed out the match, we were able to score the third goal, so I think we were able to finish with a certain amount of leeway."
Q: What do you think were the things you aimed for in the first half but weren't able to achieve, and why did you do well in the second half?
Head Coach: "In the first half, we lost the ball too easily after stealing it, and after taking the ball to the side, the positioning of the final FW and the way the midfielders showed their faces were not very good. In the second half, I think one of the reasons it became difficult was that we were weak in defense in the first half. In the second half, as I mentioned earlier, the distance between the players after we conceded a goal, and by Kurata changing his position a little and going to the center, Fujiharu was able to use the open space on the left side more, which allowed us to create a numerical advantage there and often went deep on the right side, and by attracting the ball there, ADEMILSON Braga Bispo Junior came down and became free. Well, we did change the positions of ADEMILSON Braga Bispo Junior and Ui-jo a little, but I think that by pushing in that area, there were more scenes where Endo or Konno handled the ball in that way, and we were able to take it deeper on the side."
Q: "Watanabe, who has been in the starting line-up ever since joining the team, will start on the bench, and ADEMILSON Braga Bispo Junior and Uijo will play in the combination. I think you've tried out a variety of combinations over the past two weeks and have now settled on this combination. What were your expectations and how do you evaluate today's performance?"
Head Coach: "What I expected was for the two of them to work well together, and we aimed to approach the opponent's goal while also putting in speed. However, in the first half, they were a little far apart and didn't create good combinations, but in the second half, we improved on that, so I think we were able to create more attacks, attacks that went further back than in the first half. In terms of evaluation, both teams scored goals, and we have good players in the FW, including Watanabe and Kazumi, and I think they are competing well, so we are basically thinking about such combinations, but also about players who are in good form, and combinations that will help us win this game, so we will think about various things when we play against Shonan next time."
Q: This winning streak began with Konno returning to the starting lineup, but please tell us about the impact he has had on the team, including today's game.
Head Coach Miyamoto: "I think that Konno's return, and his very presence, will bring stability to the players and the team. We saw his strength in the ball at key moments in the second half, and I think the flow of the game will change depending on whether the ball goes to the other team or we get it, but I think that since Konno's return, we have been able to make those areas our own with his power more often. Also, I think that Endo's ability to balance things out when he goes forward has been clearly visible during this winning streak."
Q: "With this, staying in the league is almost certain, and I think the goal has been achieved. Please comment on that, and what are your goals for the rest of this season?"
Head Coach Miyamoto: "First, to answer the second question, we intend to win all three games, and we have two more at home, and we want to win the away game against Kashiwa, and finish the season with as many points as possible. We don't know the numbers yet about staying in the league, and it's still a game-by-game thing, but as we train and play games, we can see changes in the players, and I've always told the players that by improving the quality of their training, we can improve the level of the game and the quality of their play, which leads to victory. That's been going on since around September, and in August we had consecutive games so we couldn't find time to practice, but now we have that time again, and with Konno's return and various other factors, we've been able to win again, and the players' confidence has returned, so I think we're in a good flow."
Q: This relates to the previous question, but I imagine there was a lot of pressure in the relegation battle. How did you feel the players were improving under those circumstances?
Head Coach Miyamoto: "At the first meeting, I told the players to bring out the power that they have, everyone has, on the pitch, and things will improve. I'm sure of that, and in order to get that back, for example, we need to improve our physical condition, the quality of our play, and in attack, for example, our positioning to move the ball. It may seem like a small thing, but we have made improvements in terms of our agreements on offense and defense, and making the team more compact. By doing this in training, everyone's awareness changes, and they try to do that. And I think there were many instances in today's game where we were able to play while remembering who we really are, and as I said earlier, I think that, combined with various other factors, led to this situation."
