Head Coach comments after the match
Head Coach, "I'm happy that we managed to grab our first win at home. We also got to experience our first Gamba Clap at home, which felt really good. We want to prepare well and continue to challenge ourselves to play aggressive football so that we can have more scenes like that at home in the future."
Q: "Today, you started DAWHAN in the starting line-up and I think the balance between him and Saito was very good. The game may have been a little tough in terms of stamina, but what did you ask of DAWHAN and what is your assessment of him?"
"As Head Coach Katanozaka said, I think the double defensive midfielder, Mitsuki SAITO and DAWHAN, showed their strengths while maintaining a good balance. They have built a very good relationship while working together in training this week, so although DAWHAN has not joined us for very long, I think they lived up to expectations in that even if they cannot play for the full 90 minutes, if they can hold the team for a certain amount of time, they will be able to show their strengths and their good relationship. I would like both of them to improve their condition and contribute to the team so that they can gradually play tough 90-minute games again."
Q: "You managed to score points while enduring a tough time, and with the series of games continuing after this, you used a variety of players in the sense of fighting an all-out war. But the moment the game ended, Head Coach Katanosaka didn't celebrate. Was it because you felt there was an issue with how you closed the game at the end?"
Head Coach: "Yes, it was the way the game ended. I really wanted to finish today with a clean sheet and keep the score at zero, so in that scene where we conceded the goal, we weren't sure whether to keep the ball or kick it, or whether to raise the line and then kick it, so we were a little half-hearted, and even while we were keeping the ball we made a mistake and conceded a goal. We've conceded goals that were a bit wasteful in the past, really wasteful ones. And we've repeated that again. Of course, the players may have had some leeway in the 3-0 win, but I think that kind of ending, that way of finishing, finishing with a clean sheet is what Gamba needs right now, so I think that's why they were a little less happy."
Q: "You mentioned that you prepared well again, but I think that you were able to defend well and launch quick attacks this time as well. What is your assessment of that?"
Head Coach: "We weren't aiming for a fast attack while defending, but we wanted to be aggressive in our defense, and if there was space in our attacks, we wanted to get involved and put our power into those spaces. That's the kind of football we need now, and I've been asking the players to play in training because I think that playing that kind of football will lead to three points. So, it may have looked like that kind of football, but I think it's very important to be aggressive and move around, so that's the kind of football we played. But we still want to keep the ball going, and when we do pass it, where do we pass it? If we get the ball from a high position, we can pass it in the opponent's territory, so I think the players took on the challenge with that in mind, with an aggressive defense, and if there's space when we take the ball, a fast attack can be effective."
