Head Coach comments after the match
Head Coach Poyatos: "First of all, I think the fans have been feeling that they have been struggling for the past few years, so I am happy that we were able to deliver joy to their hearts. I think today's team was tactically complete. I wanted to have more possession of the ball in the first half, but in the second half, our possession rate gradually increased, and we were able to create time to play comfortably. From that, we created several decisive chances, and I personally think that Cerezo did not have many decisive chances today. I sent a message to the players to stay calm, and I also told them that we will definitely take Gamba to the top with the members we have now. So, I would like to enjoy today a lot, but from tomorrow I will take a good rest and think about the match against Nagoya from there. "
Q: "Usami's goal was really splendid. Head Coach Poyatos was also pleased, but please tell us about his decisiveness and his characteristics, including today's goal."
Head Coach Poyatos: "I've spoken about (Usami) Takashi in front of you all a few times, so I don't know if I should repeat myself, but I believe that Takashi USAMI is a talented player, a treasure of Japan, and when he went to Europe, he didn't go to a small team, but to the best team in the world, Bayern Munich. I believe that he has something unfathomable, and I'm very happy with how he is now, and I think that his current condition is a combination of talent and condition. So I want to help him enjoy playing football with his teammates and help him enjoy football even more, and I really think that he is a very talented and capable player. So many players have come from Japan to Europe up until now, but I believe that he is the best of them all."
Q: Earlier, you said that the game was tactically perfect. With Handa in the team, the DF line was stable, but what do you think was the reason that the ball did not reach Leo Ceará, who was on guard?
Head Coach Poyatos: "Firstly, I think it's thanks to our staff's incredible analytical work, and then we were able to sort out how to apply pressure from there. Secondly, it's not just the defensive line, but everyone was responsible for the pressure from the forwards, and everyone, including WELTON, (Sakamoto) Issai, (Tokuma SUZUKI), (Usami) Takashi, and others, defended well. Because of that, when we got to the last line, the ball was moving in a disadvantageous situation for the opponent, so I think everyone was able to defend today. In addition, I think that today we filled the gap between the center back and the full back on the opposite side, and the whole team really did a good job. I really feel that this team is growing with each game, and I want to continue doing that in the future. I think today was a great game defensively as well."
