Head Coach comments after the match
Head Coach Poyatos: "I have no excuses, but I think it was a really difficult game. In the first half, we adjusted our press, but the opponent had the ball more than we expected. However, I think the opponent didn't have any clear chances to score goals, so in the second half, we adjusted our press and were able to damage them little by little, but I think we couldn't really get into our own flow. However, if we had scored the opening goal, I think we would have been in the opposite position and could have taken control of the game. There were also opportunities for DAWHAN to score and for the ball to hit the post. I think that's what made it a difficult game. However, the players played hard until the end and didn't give up, and from here we can get back on our feet and become stronger as a team. That's all I think."
Q: "You changed the positioning of the front line today. What was the intention behind that?"
Head Coach Poyatos: "That's right. We used Juan (Alano) and (Kurata) Aki because they understood the pressing style we wanted to use. They were good at blocking the passing lines and were experienced players who could do that, but the positioning of the opposing team's number 5 player, Tanaka, did quite a bit of damage. (Usami) Takashi and Juan were keeping a close eye on us, but we couldn't quite get a grip of it. The second half was a very balanced game, but it was a really disappointing game."
Q: You mentioned adjusting the press in the first half, but I think the opposing team had the ball on both sides of their three-back line a lot. Was that your aim to let them have the ball to a certain extent? Could you tell us more about that?
Head Coach Poyatos: "The three flanks were managed by the side players and placed in higher positions, but without them, the reorganization didn't go so well. There are pros and cons to this, and depending on the players you use, I can understand that offensive players can struggle in these areas, and I don't think it's the players' fault."
Q: "How do you feel about the break that's coming up, and how do you feel about the points difference between you and Machida, who are in second place?"
Head Coach Poyatos: "That's right. I think it's just a matter of fighting to the very end without giving up. I don't think we really need to think about too many things, and I think this team is progressing in a good way, going with the flow so far. So I think we just need to keep fighting together with the players until the very, very end of the season. At the same time, we'll do our best in the next game. I think there will be various situations that arise in Machida, and there are also situations for other teams other than Machida. They have a really good team. So I personally think it's really beautiful and wonderful that we can keep fighting with these teams and have that kind of competition."
